English Volunteers for Change (EVOLC)

The program English Volunteers for Change (EVOLC) is driven by the Foundation for Sustainability and Equity, ALIARSE, and Costa Rica Multilinguë, which is a national program initiated by former President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Oscar Arias, to make Costa Rica a multilingual country in the coming years. The program aims to contribute to improving the level of English in the rural communities

and poorest sectors of the country. It is developed under the context of public-private partnerships with chambers of tourism, schools, and local partners who give support to the initiative. Volunteers come to San José, Costa Rica's capital, where they receive intensive orientation to Costa Rican culture and English Language teaching. On the last day, volunteers are sent to their respective teaching sites where they live with host families and receive three meals a day. We work with the Chambers of Tourism from all over the country,INA (National Learning Institute), Costa Rica Public Schools, and other Foundations working for the common goal of social equality and development. Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Living, volunteering, teaching, and exploring Costa Rica is a life-changing experience that forever impacts the lives of students and volunteer teachers alike!
