The blue color of the water is due to a phenomenon known as Mie scattering. When the acidic and neutral waters of two rivers meet, their aluminosilicate particles clump together, resulting in the right particle concentration/size to scatter light in the blue wavelengths of the spectrum. 💧

The Blue Falls are a collection of 6 vibrant blue waterfalls - El Tepezquintle, Las Gemelas, La Celestial, La Turquesa, & La Pintada. Across the street is Catarata del Toro, one of CR's most impressive waterfalls cascading into an ancient volcanic crater. Lush, secluded trails through virgin rainforest and rich biodiversity ~ a nature lover's paradise 🌿🌎
