Good morning everyone! First off welcome to all the new followers!

Coming to Costa Rica during rainy season and worried about weather?

This picture shows exactly how morning weather looks like during May/Oct. Expect sunny mornings and rainy afternoons! No it doesn’t mean crazy rain all day. Yes, it starts raining by 2/3 pm. Daylight hours stay all year round 5:00 am/5:45 pm in CR.

Remember we are in the middle of the tropics, so this weather pattern might be affected by tropical waves which might bring cloudy/foggy days and also lots of rain, but it shouldn’t last more than 3 to 4 days.

Rainy season is a chance to find touristy places with almost no people, help local businesses during the thoughest time of the year and also get the best deals on flights and rental cars.

📍Las Cortinas Waterfall | Turrialba 🇨🇷

If driving between the Southern Pacific and the Caribbean, or if you have a couple nights at SJO, staying at least 2 nights at Turrialba makes a lot of sense, you will not only split the long drive, you will be also able to experience one of the most scenic locations in Costa Rica!

The local town was called after Turrialba Volcano, which is an impressive active cone, covered by ashes. This place is known for it’s landscapes, but also for it’s famous cheese, origin cheese which keeps the same name of the town and the volcano.

Here is where the jungle meets the sea. If visiting between May/Oct (rainy season) and looking for quiet, cristal clear water, white sand beaches the south Caribbean coast is your way to go. This is the best time to visit the Caribbean and probably the worst to visit the pacific.

Driving distance between beaches is so short, don’t expect huge resorts, the coastline is full of small cabins and boutique hotels, also very good restaurants. Caribbean food is different from the rest of the country, adding great flavors to the experience.
