Since this is the Season of Lent, the weeks leading up to Easter, perhaps you should visit the Metropolitan Cathedral in Downtown San José. In addition to being a place of worship, it is a great center for art. The first photo shows the neo-classical architecture with its facade of two bell towers and a clock tower in the middle. The second photo shows part of the main altar. It features a striking blue mural showing a heavenly scene with God the father, God the son, and a bird representing God the Holy Ghost.

El Teatro Nacional es uno de los grandes tesoros culturales y arquitectónicos de toda Centroamérica. Y es una parte vital de la historia de Costa Rica.

Cuando visites el Teatro Nacional hoy, lo primero que te llamará la atención será la belleza y elegancia del vestíbulo. Los pisos y las columnas son de mármol italiano. Hay estatuas de artistas italianos y costarricenses. Los paneles del techo están pintados a mano. Las puertas del interior del teatro cuentan con vidrio francés grabado. El efecto es impresionante.

Es una área hermosa con lindos jardines, árboles frondosos, un estanque con un pequeño puente que te invita a pasar adelante. Caminos encurvados, varias estatuas, y por supuesto El Gran Monumento Nacional!!❤️

El teatro nacional es uno de nuestros mas valiosos tesoros, ubicado en el centro de San José, esta lleno de historia, arte y simplemente es grandioso The National Theater is one of our most valuable treasures, located in the center of San José. It is full of history, art and is simply great.

Barrio Amón, was once the most fashionable neighborhood in all of Costa Rica. Beginning in the last half of the 1800s, coffee became a viable cash crop for Costa Rica. The farmers, known collectively as the “coffee barons,” began to prosper and many of them built town houses in San Jose. This is evident as you walk the streets of this barrio. You will see the dozens of beautiful century-old homes and buildings. By the middle of the twentieth century Barrio Amón began to decline, as many of the original wealthy families moved to quieter and more modern parts of the Central Valley. In recent years, Barrio Amón has been experiencing a renaissance, and the area has seen an increase in the number and the quality of hotels, restaurants, art galleries and professional offices.
