Casa De Ki, is the house of Ken and Imali in Uvita, Costa Rica. We discovered it in 2015, on our travel south from Manuel Antonio and instantly fell in love. First the hour drive along the Costa Sur highway from MA to Uvita was spectacular. On the left, lush jungle and directly right, the stunning coastline and pristine beaches. Second, we fell in love with this property because it has an amazing
open high vaulted roof structure, a large bamboo bar, stage, and the grounds are magnificent. We lost count of how many mature fruit trees (mango, orange, avocado, banana, anona, starfruit, pineapple) gorgeous tropical flowers and medicinal plants. Built with a lot of love by a Spanish biologist named Susana, and her boyfriend Mario, back in 2010 along with a French architect, the structure is unique beyond words and has a peace and energy about it that we had never experienced but always craved...so we bought it! The village of Uvita is quiet, but well stocked with unbelievable grocery stores, and all the 'first world' amenities. Our casa is right on the unpaved road down to the Marino Ballena national park, where the whales come. National parks are to the right and left of us. Thrill seekers will have their adrenaline fix and this is the spot to unwind. There are two cabinas out back called "REI" - the bigger, sleeps a couple, and the smaller cabina "CHI" which sleeps two but is better suited for the single traveler or travelers who don't want to/need to share a bed. Wink wink. These cabinas share a common beautiful wooden open kitchen, and sit up bar to take in the day or rest your tired feet at night. Both cabinas share an outdoor solar shower, and washroom. The cabinas are set back on the property and have their own 'feel' to them, and distinct look. The main structure houses a stone and bamboo bar, large kitchen, stage area with hammock, private bathroom and shower, picnic bench, star-fish shaped firepit/bbq, and its own large bedroom equipt with queen bed. All units have fresh airflow, but our fans are recommended at night. No need for AC. Fresh bedding and towels are provided.
