St. Mark's Church is a Serbian Orthodox church located in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The church is located in a park near the Serbian Parliament Building, next door to a smaller Russian Orthodox church, the Holy Trinity Church in Belgrade. The church was built between 1931 and 1940. There used to be a smaller church on the original site, built in 1835.

Belgrade Fortress was built as a defensive structure on a ridge overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers during the period from the 2nd to the 18th century.

The name Kalemegdan applies only to the spacious plateau surrounding the fortress, which was converted into a park in the 1880s. When the fortress became Belgrade's main military stronghold, the plateau was where the enemy was watched and ready for battle. Its name is derived from the Turkish kale (fort) and megdan (field). The Turks also call it Fichir-bair, which means "hill of contemplation".

This is the place where all generations, Serbs and foreigners gather and spend their time enjoying the breathtaking views in New Belgrade. It's also a place foreigners are happy to come in to get a feel for the history of this area of ​​Belgrade.
