Camel riding is a traditional way of moving for Bedouin. It is a very quiet and leisurely way for you to discover our desert. You will feel like you are being transported back in time.

The trip with your bedouin guide will be just the duration you need, from one hour up to four or five days including a bivy above the stars with jeep assistance if needed.

Camels are animals made for the desert. They are an staple food for the Bedouins. Camel milk contains more fat and protein than cow milk. Bedouins believe that camel milk has medicinal power if the camel's diet consists of certain plants.

Some bedouins in Wadi Rum still own camels and herd them in the desert. Mating activities occur usually in winters when males go in heat. With a bit of luck, you might just witness how the Bedouins actually 'assist' this process to ensure the female get pregrant. You can observe the different camel 'personalities'.

Everyone knows that camels can survive for a long time without water. But unlikely popular belief, camels do not store water in their hump, which is used instead for storing fatty tissue which then turn into energy when needed. Their amazing water retaining ability is due to their oval-shaped red blood cell which lower osmosis activities and their special kidneys and intestine. Do you know camels only start sweating when temperature is higher than 41C (106F)? Even their nostrils are shaped to trap in water moisture.

With a little bit of patience, you may also see goats, desert foxes, different kinds of birds, even a desert mouse or two living in this beautiful paradise called Wadi Rum.
