Loma de la Cruz is one of the most relevant symbols of the town and hides a long history.

It is a geographical feature located north of Holguín at 261 meters above sea level. At the beginning of the 20th century it was decided to restore the ascent slopes and on May 3, 1950 the works were completed by placing the cross at the top as an inaugural symbol.

To access the Hill, a staircase of 458 steps was built that has landings and benches to rest during the ascent. Although for those who only want to access the viewpoint, a road was built at the back to go up by car. However, the beauty of the visit is the ascent up the staircase, today declared a Colonial Archaeological Historical Monument of the island of Cuba.

An attractive imaginary journey through the history of the railway in the province of Camagüey, supported by the use of the most modern technologies that simulate that journey interactively, is the proposal of the Office of the City Historian (OHCC), as one of the most attractive elements of the Railway Theme Park Museum, the only one of its kind in the country.

Behind every detail that the visitor will see there is an extensive investigative process to recreate the original furniture and other ornaments typical of that means of transportation and all the life created around it, from architecture to its social implications.

Along with a model of that road, they also opened operational premises of the aforementioned Station at that time, such as the offices of the Chief and Deputy Chief of Station, the medical post and the Watch Inspection office, all of which were fully restored.

They date back 300,000 years and are one of Cuba's natural treasures. They were discovered accidentally in 1861 by a worker of the landowner Manuel Santos Parga. He conditioned them properly and provided the services of a guide with the intention of turning the Bellamar Caves into a tourist center.

To access the caves, located at a point 5 km southeast of . Once there, you must continue walking. After a short climb of 30 meters you will find yourself in front of the Bellamar Caves, which you will access through a museum located at the entrance.

Remains of birds and vertebrate animals from the Quaternary era have been found in them. As if this were not enough, its strange geological formations will awaken your interest if you are passionate about crystallography or caving.

In addition to the amazing stalactites, stalagmites and helicites that populate them, the Bellamar Caves contain within them an unusual natural phenomenon that occurs only in them. It consists of solid calcite crystals that hang from stalactites and have attracted the attention of geologists from all over the planet.

In the Bellamar Caves you can also appreciate other elements of great beauty, such as the geodes, an underground stream that runs through the entire area, and the beautiful crystalline layer covers that make the rooms shine with an almost supernatural shine.

The Guanahacabibes peninsula is the westernmost point on the island of Cuba. It is located in the province of Pinar del Río, in the municipality of Sandino.

The waters around the peninsula are important fishing grounds for spiny lobster and red snapper.

The Guanahacabibes National Park on the peninsula is one of the largest natural reserves in the country and is separated from the rest of the island by plains of white sand where one of the largest lakeside areas in Cuba is located, it is an area relatively small containing about 100 lakes, as well as the largest and purest fields of silica sand, which is 99.8% pure. Nature tourism is a main attraction in the 398.26 km² national park. The area is inhabited by 172 species of birds belonging to 42 families, 11 of which are endemic and 84 are migratory. Experts also believe that 4 of the 7 species of sea turtles living on the planet have survived on the Guanahacabibes peninsula. The coast also contains preserved coral reefs, with the northern coast covered by the western keys and islands of the Colorados archipelago.

The peninsula was one of the last refuges of Aboriginal people fleeing the Spanish conquerors and also has some 140 archaeological sites linked to the life of the Aboriginal people, who were known as Guanajatabeyes.

Camagüey is located in the eastern center of Cuba, it is composed of a central part or historic center, where you can see old buildings with their narrow and cobbled alleys in the colonial style, and has beautiful squares and churches of great historical value.

Due to the care and commitment of its residents and local authorities, part of its historic center was declared a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2008.

The layout of Camagüey is the most asymmetrical among all the towns founded by the Spanish in Cuba,
According to tradition, the labyrinthine layout of its narrow and winding streets was chosen by the founders to defend the place. The paving stones that still remain were installed in the first part of the 20th century. You can also see the rails of the old tram.

Camagüey has the largest preserved colonial center in the country, which offers visitors numerous buildings with significant architectural and historical-cultural values, as well as interesting museums.

Baracoa was founded on August 15, 1511 with the name of Our Lady of the Assumption of Baracoa by the Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez. It is the oldest settlement on the island after the arrival of the Spanish colonizers and hence its name of First City.

In 1518 it received the designation of a city. It was the first Cuban capital and the first bishopric of the Island.

Declared a National Monument, the city is located between the Macaguanigua and Miel rivers. Among its natural attractions is the Toa River, marked by numerous waterfalls, the best known being El Saltadero, 17 meters high, and the Yunque mountains, which owe their name to their similarity to the piece used by blacksmiths and the Called Sleeping Beauty, seen from afar, it resembles a young woman lying down.

The main products of the region are coconut, cocoa and coffee, although since the late 90s of the last century tourism has become one of its main sources of income due to its extraordinary nature.

Santa Clara is the capital of the central Cuban province of Villa Clara. It is known mainly for its monuments of the revolution.

It had a very prominent participation in the fight for independence, during the Ten Years' War and the Cuban Revolution, in December 1958 the Battle of Santa Clara was fought and the provincial capital was taken militarily by the commander Ernesto Che Guevara. Not surprisingly, for all its history of war and guerrilla warfare, this city is known by "Ciudad Liberal" (Free City). Santa Clara is all history, and in the case of Cuba this translates into revolutionary history. You will be able to find here the Mausoleo del Che Guevara (Mausoleum of the Che Guevara), built in honor of the guerrilla and the Museo del Tren Armado (Armored Train Museum), where you will be able to see the authentic train that the rebels occupied. Without a doubt, Santa Clara is a city not to be missed for all that it represents.

17/10/2023

Santiago de Cuba, known as the Hero City of Cuba, is a city and municipality located in the east of the island. It is the second most important city in the country due to its economy and population.

It was the capital of the ancient province of Oriente and is currently the capital of the province of the same name. It was founded in 1515 by the Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez, among the first seven towns in Cuba.

It has been the capital of Cuba on three occasions and until 1925 it was the main center of the country's Catholic religion.

Multiple architectural styles coincide in the city, from colonial and baroque, to neoclassical and the most refined rationalism, through avant-garde and art deco, which is why it is generally described as a city of eclectic style.

Despite the inclement weather and the significant earthquakes recorded in the eastern region of Cuba, important samples of Santiago's colonial architecture are preserved.

Santiago de Cuba is considered the cradle of Cuban music, since the first genres were born in the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, at the hands of the composer Esteban Salas. It has been recognized as the "Cradle of the Cuban Son, the Cuban bolero and the Conga"
