Although there are properties for sale on most islands we believe that for the foreseeable future Sal offers the best opportunities for rental income and capital growth. Sal is the main tourist island, with a lively town centre offering a good selection of bars and restaurants. Boa Vista is getting more accessible but, at present, it is dominated with all inclusive hotels, with little demand for r
entals. Other islands can offer properties for sale but these tend to be isolated properties with little facilities for visitors. Hazel, co - founder of AJP has lived in Sal since 2006 and is the island’s financial expert – offering mortgage and tax advice from her office at the Hotel Pontão. Currently living in an apartment in Vila Verde she has lived in several other properties in Santa Maria and has seen the island grow and develop. “When I first came to live in Sal there were only a couple of bars and restaurants open and all the developments were offering off plan properties only. Now the town centre has grown but it still keeps the charm which has kept me here for years. Cape Verde is still relatively unknown to many holidaymakers and offers buyers the opportunity to buy properties at excellent prices. Although there are 9 inhabited islands which form Cape Verde together with several uninhabited islets and 1 other island. These volcanic islands all have different characteristics, climate and opportunities.
“The Jewel in the Atlantic” or “the new Caribbean” are just 2 of the descriptions which have been given to the Cape Verde Islands. The islands are only 5.5 hours from the UK and most of central Europe even less. As the flying time is so short there is no jet lag to suffer and little time difference. (only 1 hour GMT, Summertime and 2 hours, GMT Wintertime). The islands are situated about 500 kilometres from mainland Africa and 4,500 kilometres from the UK. In total they cover just over 4,000 sq kms and are of volcanic origin. Please check out our Holiday Lettings page .
