One of the most revered Orthodox churches in Cyprus is the St. Mamas Monastery in Güzelyurt. Many people come to the monastery with faith and hope for help from the saint, whose sarcophagus with relics is embedded in one of the walls of the monastery.

The St Barnabas Monastery and Icon museum once marked the Western boundary of the ancient city of Salamis and is situated close to the Royal Tombs between Tuzla and Salamis. The site consists of a church, now an icon museum, a monastery, displaying an archaeological collection, and a chapel supposedly housing the remains of the saint himself. The buildings that we see today date from the 1750s. Once the center of the Cyprus Orthodox Church, the monastery is still in good condition. Outside the church, there is a courtyard, surrounded on three sides by buildings that once housed the monks and pilgrims coming to pray at the monastery.
St Barnabas was one of the founders of the independent Cyprus Orthodox church and is the patron saint of Cyprus. He was born in Salamis to a Jewish family who had emigrated from Syria to Cyprus.

On the top of the mountain, at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level, there is an unusually beautiful mysterious place - Vouni.
Vouni Palace is located 23 km west of Guzelyurt. This is one of the most interesting architectural monuments of ancient Cyprus, the history of which is associated with the struggle of the Cypriots against the Persians in the middle of the first millennium BC.

Picnic in the Park

September 17th, 5 pm onwards

What could be nicer than enjoying a picnic in stunning surroundings, listening to great music, dancing in the late summer breeze, all to raise funds for a valuable cause.

Taskent Nature Park, together with Martin’s Angels, will be hosting a Picnic in the Park to raise funds and awareness of the fantastic work they do. Not only in the conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife but also helping to preserve the environment here in Northern Cyprus.
The event is to be held on the terrace below the Selvi restaurant in the grounds of the Taskent Picnic area.
Music will be provided by Gavin Simons, Kerry and, the Celtic Rock and Blues band, Inchequin.
Your MC for the night will be the one and only WEJ.DJ from thebaylive RADIO. He will be providing music to get your feet stamping ready to dance the night away.
Tickets are 40 TL in advance or 50 TL on the night. Each ticket will be entered into a raffle draw.
