St.Vitus cathedrale makes part of Prague Castle. This magnificent church was founded in 1344 and belongs to the most visited monuments in the City.

Czech (sometimes also called Bohemian) glass, has worlwide reputation and local glass products belong to the the most popular souvenirs bought by tourists visiting Prague and Czech republic.

The tradition of Czech glassmaking dates back to the Middle Ages. Many of the glassworks are situated in the mountain regions of North Bohemia. It is also there, in the City called Kamenický Šenov where the oldest glass school in Europe is located.

Recently I have visited with a group of Czech seniors a small glass manufacture producing unique glass objects designed by the most talented glass designers of today. We could experience the whole manufacturing process including glass blowing.

Our next stop was Museum of glass in Nový Bor. Very interesting exhibition gives a general insight into the whole history of Czech glassmaking.

Not only Prague but many other places in Czech republic deserve your attention.

One of them is the City Plzeň ( Pilsen), just one hour of drive from Prague. You may know it as a home of beer Pilsner Urquell.

But it's not just the brewery,which you can visit there. Pilsen has also the third largest synagogue in the world.

Great Synagogue, as it is called, dates back to the end of 19.century and could accomodate some 2500 people. Its beautiful interior has been fully restored recently and this April it has opened its doors to visitors again.

If you would like to escape from crowds marching constantly through the historical core of Prague go to Vyšehrad fortress. It is situated not far from the City centre and you can easily get there by public transport.

It´s a place where you can enjoy great views of the City and discover interesting sights such as the old romanesque rotunda of St.Martin dating back to 11.century, basilica of St.Peter and Paul with beautiful art nouveau murals and cemetery founded as burial place of famous Czechs personalities.

St.Vitus cathedral is situated at Prague Castle. It is not only the biggest church of the country and an archbishopric seat but also the burial place of Czech kings.

One of the must see sights of Prague is Charles bridge. Its founder, the emperor Charles IV. decided to built a new stone bridge over the Vltava river in 1347. Statues od saints came to it some centuries later and the bridge became an open air gallery

Some villages in South Moravian region have been hit by a tornado. Five people are dead, others injured. Many families have lost their homes. Nobody was expecting that something like this could happen ad we don' t have tornados here in Czech republic. Just to look at these pictures bellow is heartbreaking.😥
