Da freuen sich sicher unsere Winterfans: Heute Nacht hat es wieder bei uns auf dem Großen Arber geschneit. ❄️⛄

It is with great sadness that I share with you the following message from Martin, but I am glad that my mother’s legacy lives on, albeit in a smaller scale:

Dear Guests
As many know my wife Margaret Leach died last year and after I returned to Bayerisch Eisenstein I looked to continue the formal business which we had built together and which Ulrike had looked after during Margaret’s illness.
Following some health issues of my own I have reluctantly taken the very emotional and difficult decision to close the business “Bavarian Forest Holidays” with effect from 31st December 2017.
Haus Sterr and Haus Peter are being sold.
I am keeping Forsthaus and will be letting this four bedroom apartment together with most of the facilities previously enjoyed by guests from around the world.
Ulrike will continue to provide local service and I will also spend some time there in a ground floor apartment.
I hope this option will allow me some retirement as well as providing past guests, contacts, family and new guests the opportunity to enjoy the area we love and the places of interest in the region.
I will shortly be removing references on the website to the apartments which are being sold but will leave the pages about the region for tourist information to guests and any others looking at the region.

The beginning of the ski season!

Ab dem 16.12.2017 öffnen die Lifte am „König des Bayerischen Waldes“ bis zum geplanten Saisonende am 08. April 2018. Geöffnet sind dann die 6er-Sonnenhangbahn, die Schlepplifte am Thurnhofhang, das ArBärkinder- & Zwergenland sowie unter Vorbehalt die 6er-Gondelbahn.

This Sunday, Germany will be setting back their clocks for Winterzeit. Please keep in mind that this means there will be only a 5 hour time difference between Germany and the East Coast of the US (EST) until Daylight Savings on November 5th.
