Our Story...

While working at a lodge in Northern KwaZulu Natal, I had the privilege of meeting some really interesting and amazing people from all over the world. Some of whom made impressions with the way they viewed the world and their ideas on how best to explore it. In particular was a group of four young and adventurous Austrians. Sitting around the fire at the bar I watched them roll dice, draw straws and then randomly point out various points on their travel map of South Africa! My curiosity got the better of me so I went over and asked them if I could perhaps be of some assistance, actually my way of trying to figure out what they were doing! Turned out that their “travel plan” was actually not to have one! Intrigued, I asked them - “Why?”. They explained that they had been part of a larger group of 22 people travelling by bus, which turned out not to be to their liking. So the abandoned the tour group, hired a car and based pretty much on what they knew from their itinerary before, were basically making it up as they went along.

While not wanting to dampen their pioneering and adventurous spirit or sound like a prophet of doom, I did feel compelled to point out a few hazards and difficulties the may face along their travels. I have them my number in case they may need some advice or help along the way and we said good night. The next afternoon I got a call from them asking for directions on how to get out of Durban and head towards Port Elizabeth - they were lost in Durban. I directed them to uShaka Marine World where a friend and fellow guide met them and escorted then onto the N2. This was the beginning of a wonderful journey as I guided them from Hluhluwe all the way to Cape Town and back to O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg...all via cellphone and the help of fellow guides along their route!

That’s what started it all and as time has past and things developed it led us to this point where we now focus on this self-designed and tailor-made approach to tour South Africa and also Namibia as you would like to by simply giving our input and experience to you in your planning and decision making in the most honest and ethical way possible. It was clear to us that at some point we will grow into offering some standard tour options that are easily adapted to suit your various needs when necessary, and of course that we will also be doing some tours with you as your guide.

Our focus is to follow an adventurous approach coupled with years of experience as well as sharing our knowledge in the most honest and ethical way, ensuring that advice we give can be trusted. You bring your ideas and we work on designing your dream holiday or tour together. Whether we do it with you or you want to tackle your trip alone...you can be sure you have based it all on the best possible advice. If you are the adventurous type that travels alone you can also rest assured that even after you’ve planned your trip and are underway, if you need any assistance, you can contact us!
