We try to create lasting memories during our tours through Mauritania. This time, however, we were also surprised. One of our visitors entered a tattoo studio one day after his return to Germany and symbolically got the train ride from Zouerat to Nouadhibou as a tattoo. The operator of the iron ore train, Snim, also found its place on the skin. Surely a lasting !

Nothing but desert? As if! ´s landscape is more diverse than some people might expect, including gueltas like Metraucha in the region. For all its beauty, we would still not recommend swimming, if only because of the crocodiles living there.

Sometimes the journey is the reward. In the pass of Amogjar (also: Agrour), which lies on the way from Atar to Chinguetti, there are numerous rock paintings, some of them thousands of years old. Definitely worth seeing!

There is more to see in than just Adrar. In the Tagant region lies , one of the four ancient Ksour, along with Ouadane, Oualata and Chinguetti. This December, Tichitt will host the festival des cités du patrimoine. Definitely worth a visit!

Looking at the distant ruins of . Although not being a real fortress, this film set of the same-named French movie Fort Saganne (1984) lies close to the Amogjar canyon and therefore on our way from Atar to Chinguetti in the middle of the Adrar region.
