This weekโs story is a great example of teamwork and how important the relationship is between brokers and airlines. ๐๐ผ
About a year ago, just when COVID-19 became a global pandemic, we operated a flight with from Mexico City back to Germany. A team of a german glass manufacturer was stationed on a construction site in Orizaba, Mexico. Once the Corona pandemic hit Mexico and the state of emergency was declared, the customer asked us to bring their employees back home to Germany ๐ฉ๐ช. At that moment Lufthansa already cancelled all their flights from Mexico to Germany. Soย their only option was a charter flight ๐ฉ. Among the passengers onboard was also an Indian passport holder, who had no chance to get back into India, as they were among the firsts to close down all airports and borders. At first the German government denied the landing of the flight, but with the help of Air Hamburg,ย government officials, and the customer we finally found a way to get all required permits to allow the aircraft to enter German airspace. The aircraft left Mexico City at noon and flew towards St. Johns, Canada. After the aircraft was refueled and de-iced, we continued the flight over the Atlantic back to Germany.
It was one hell of an exciting project and a prime example on how important the relationship is between brokers and airlines.
