😃Two Jewels of Western Cape: Cape Town and Stellenbosch
Take the journey with us, see and feel the totally different atmosphere between these two jewels in the crown of the Western Cape and South Africa. One a bustling modern city of skyscrapers, the other maintaining a 'dignified' country atmosphere with its ancient oaks and Cape Dutch architecture.
A short 50 km separate Cape Town and Stellenbosch. The first vines planted in Southern Africa were in area of Cape Town. The City grew rapidly from humble beginnings to a vibrant cosmopolitan centre with a deep sea harbour, vast suburbs like the Cape Flats, an extensive railway network and home to over 4 Million people today.
Stellenbosch, founded 27 years later [1685], quickly became important, with plenty of water and fertile soil resulting in a great production of wine, surpassing Cape Town’s Constantia by far. Today, it has a large university that dominates the 170 000 inhabitants, and has attracted a strong financial institution presence.

Here is the second part of our tour along the West Coast of South Africa, visiting fascinating sites of the First People of Southern Africa and experiencing their culture. Added to that are interesting Birding Sites and the sheer beauty of nature and its abundance. Of course there are other delicious experiences like the Craft Beer or Wine tasting, and it goes without saying the delicious food of the West Coast restaurants.

The First People of Southern Africa were the San. The amazing Rock Art that they created has survived to this day. The tour is an appreciation of the San Artists contribution to our Human Culture. The tour takes the traveler on an exciting 4 day journey to discover the galleries of their Rock Art as well as some even more interesting and largely unknown influences on our Human Culture up the present.

The dates for this tour are: 11 Sept, 18 Sept, 16 Oct 2022

On a short visit to the West Coast, we stayed at Mykonos. Also enjoyed time at the Fossil Park, learning about the animals that lived in the area 5 million years ago; how much the climate has changed during this period and how this ancient treasure trove was uncovered.

is a very special place, which we visit every year during spring that starts in this area about the beginning of August. I chose the Hantam as my first album, because the area has such a wealth of bulbs and is therefore especially interesting. The flowers are the highlight and precedence for our groups; not much time is spent 'sightseeing', we are rather on our knees with rear ends in the air taking photos.

We spend 10 days away from Cape Town, first traveling north to Springbok in the Northern Cape and then taking our time on the journey south.
