The Covid-19 year 2020 was definitely the most disruptive period for tourism of all times. As recurring travel restrictions and actual lockdowns show, the yacht charter industry cannot rely on the recovery of the business in 2021. Hastily produced vaccines might not bring back the “old normality” to international travel behaviour, if the political targets are others. However, insights from the 2020 season enable us to predict future challenges and trends for the boat rental market.

☼ Country Openings for Summer Sailing 2020

Thanks to the calming-down of the issues, Europe is finally opening up its borders for yacht charter holiday makers! This means that you are allowed to travel from certain dates on into the countries listed below in order to embark on a rented charter yacht.

: Boat charters guest can enter the country since mid of May.

: Tourists can enter the country from 3rd June on. Boat charters are also allowed.

: Incoming travellers still need to go into a 14 days self-quarantine as long as the Corona-Alarm is valid. A lift of these restrictions cannot be expected before end of June.

: Marinas shall open from 25th from May and yachting shall be allowed. Quarantine restrictions will be lifted. Incoming international travels should be allowed from 15th June to Athens airport and from 1st July on to all Greek airports.

Even you have not booked a yacht vacation yet, you can reserve a boat now. There are still free weeks during the summer months.

This year you can expect to experience the Mediterranean sailing destinations relaxed and unspoiled like you have never imagined before.

Be aware that you should be able to present your travel voucher, the charter contract and a filled crew list. So better print those documents out and have it ready to show.

are back! On the these sensitive animals are now coming back to the shore and even into Marinas, like captured on Ibiza and Palma. Were they missing us out there? Not very likely! But there is no recreational boat traffic on the water since the begin of the -19 . This shows that we should focus in the next years on reducing emissions from boats even more and launch eco-friendly drives.

YachtBooker Developer Workshop Mallorca 2019

YachtBooker welcomes some of their developers from IOmundo and support team members for a one week technical workshop on Mallorca. This year we rented a beautiful Finca near Puerto Pollenca. We use the occasion to instruct the developers and support team members to inspect some yachts. This will make their daily work easier, understand what yachting is about. Thanks to our local partners of CM Charter and BUCCARA, we are able to inspect some of their yachts for a live training.
