New this week: Kefalonia Boutique Villa in Kefalonia, Greece
welcomebeyond.com/kefalonia-boutique-villa/

Kefalonia Boutique Villa is a 35-square metre house placed in the middle of a 200-square-metre exterior space. Although “small”, it is designed to accommodate all of a couple’s holiday needs and it feels like a villa. We like to describe it as a “love nest”. All of the materials, furnishings, fixtures, lighting and details have been carefully selected.

The location of the villa offers the best of both worlds. It’s central enough for exploring the island yet secluded enough to enjoy some peace and quiet.

You can go snorkelling and scuba diving with a PADI-certified school, rent a boat or go on a sailing cruise. Our favourite thing to do is hire a boat for the day and go to one of the small pebble beaches to the north, which are only accessible by sea and surrounded by green forest. The closest beach to the villa is a pebble beach in Agia Efimia. It’s a 10-minute walk from the villa. Our favourite beach is Myrtos, which is 10 minutes away by car and particularly beautiful in the springtime.

New this week: Glass House in Overijssel, Netherlands
https://www.welcomebeyond.com/glass-house/

The Glass House is located in a very small village in the east of the Netherlands and just over an hour’s drive from Amsterdam. It is reached via a very narrow road, with big villas to the right and a 1970s neighbourhood to the left. In between, there is an old forest with huge trees, which is where the Glass House is located. It’s extremely quiet and green, with huge trees and lots of birds. Sometimes you can even see deer passing by.

Designed like a greenhouse, the Glass House is almost completely made out of glass. So when you are inside, you feel like you are outside. It’s nice when it’s sunny but also wonderful when it’s raining. It’s a gem — a place to be inspired by the natural environment and the way the house interacts with it.

I would recommend going walking and cycling through the nearby forests, heaths and meadows, as well as visiting some of the towns and villages. Definitely spend a day in Deventer and go to the Museum More in Gorssel. If you are there for a week or more, you could go further afield. We find that people tend to stay at the house and just enjoy being there. We have a fireplace where you can cosy up, a projector for watching movies and a kitchen that is well-equipped for cooking.

New this week: Zante Seaside Villa in Zakynthos, Greece
https://www.welcomebeyond.com/zante-seaside-villa/

Zante Seaside Villa is a refuge for sustainability, design lovers and those who want to relax in a place untouched by the tourist crowd. Surrounded by an organic vineyard of autochthonous grape varieties, plus olive, pine and cypress trees, the villa features pergolas shaded by leafy vines and bougainvillaeas. It’s a retreat from everyday urban life that invites a “slow living” and contemplative lifestyle.

The villa is beautifully located on the picturesque coastline between Ammoudi and Psarou on the northeast coast of Zakynthos. The beaches here are not particularly crowded and they are ideal for families as they are sheltered from the southerly winds. The waters are warm and shallow and the seabed is sandy and soft. It’s perfect for snorkelling, with a wide variety of fish to see.

In front of our villa, there are three options for swimming: 50 metres directly in front, to the left along a 100-metre-long path or to the right (around 300 metres away). Along the beachfront next to the house, you will find some very nice fish taverns and restaurants, plus there are local mini markets nearby. Big-name supermarkets can also be reached within 15 minutes by car.

New this week: Casa Aragón in Oaxaca, Mexico
welcomebeyond.com/casa-aragon/

Casa Aragón is 970-square-metre house overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Mexico’s Oaxacan coast. Surrounded by nature and a garden filled with endemic plants, every detail has been carefully considered to provide a welcoming atmosphere. From Casa Aragón’s elevated spot, guests can enjoy refreshing coastal breezes that flow throughout the property.

The property features an open-plan living room, a fully-equipped kitchen and a beachfront infinity pool, plus four bedrooms that can accommodate up to 12 guests. Two have king-size beds and ocean views while the others have two queen-size beds and views towards the mountain.

Casa Aragón is perched on a hill overlooking Playa Aragón, which is less than five minutes away on foot. It is a secluded, untouched beach offering a perfect escape into nature’s tranquility. This hidden gem is known for its golden sands, calm ambiance and clear ocean waters — ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat away from the crowds. Five minutes’ drive will take you to both Zipolita and San Agustinillo while Mazunte is around 10 minutes away. San Agustinillo is very famous for its surf and there are a lot of restaurants and night clubs there if you want to party.

New this week: Les Rochers in Havre Aubert Island, Québec, Canada
welcomebeyond.com/les-rochers/

There’s a real sense of serenity here and it’s slow-paced, with nature, the beach and the ocean all around. We see guests arrive who have read the guide and know everything they want to do and everywhere they want to eat out. But often, they end up skipping these things to just watch the sunset with baguettes and cheese. It’s a very chilled vibe.

However, we do provide guests with a list of things to see and do in the area. I’d definitely recommend going on a few hikes and taking a boat excursion, either to go fishing or to see the cliffs. I’d also recommend visiting Entry Island. It’s the only island in the archipelago that’s inhabited but not connected, so you have to take a ferry to get there. Around 40 people live on the island, completely surrounded by nature. It’s an end-of-the-world feeling. The closest beach to is two kilometres away, which is either 15 minutes on foot or two minutes by car.

New this week: hintershelter in Québec, Canada
welcomebeyond.com/hintershelter/

hintershelter is super modern and minimal but incorporates older furniture and design pieces that have been recycled and revived. We partner with a curator who specialises in furnishings and every season, we switch in and out pieces to make it a dynamic space — it’s like a collection. There are lots of windows and simple lines — less is more. This is not just about following a minimalist trend but creating spaces that give you more space. If there is less clutter, your brain feels less busy and you have more space to think.

hintershelter is located in the Laurentians of Quebec. One of the largest ski resorts in the northeast, Mont Tremblant, is 15 minutes’ drive from the house. It’s a large hub but as we’re a short distance away, you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.

New this week: Villa Capullo in Tulum, Yucatán, Mexico
welcomebeyond.com/villa-capullo/

We are French and most of our clients are from Europe or the United States, trying to escape the cold back home. So we wanted to offer a tropical experience, which is why all of the living rooms are open to the outdoors. For me, this is the highlight of staying in tropical countries.

Many of our guests have plans to do a lot of activities in Tulum, then when they arrive at the house, they don’t want to go anywhere! With the jungle, the pool and an optional chef cooking for you, it’s so relaxing just staying at the house. We can accommodate up to 18 people so to take the stress out of travelling in a large group, we take care of our guests’ itineraries and manage everything from airport transfers to local drivers, restaurant reservations and activities.

I would definitely recommend going to the cenotes. But I would avoid the most famous ones as they can get very crowded. You should also go to Tulum Beach, which is absolutely beautiful, and see some of the area’s Mayan ruins. In the nature reserve, you can do a tour through the mangroves along the lazy rivers. The water is crystal clear and it’s such a beautiful experience.

New this week: Bungalow in Troncones, Guerrero, Mexico
https://www.welcomebeyond.com/property/bungalow/

The Bungalow is a Brutalist hideaway tucked away on a dirt road. It’s modern, chic and unexpected; cheerful, chill and luxurious. It is a peaceful place located off the beaten path and set within a lush garden of plumeria, jasmine, almond, coconut and orchid trees. During the day, it is well-shaded and at night, the stars come out in a way that is hard to describe.

This part of Guerrero is off the beaten track. It’s undeveloped, rustic and wild — a throwback to another era. Paved roads and water services are “new” here. I like that the area is home to a hard-working community that’s not fancy or concerned with any sort of prestige. Kindness is the currency of exchange, whether it’s in the water, at a restaurant or on the local roads, which are shared by cars, trucks, motorcycles, quads/ATVs, bicycles, horses, cows, goats, chickens and people. It’s a colorful and interesting place to be.

The closest beach is a five-minute walk from the property, although the flora, fauna and people you meet along the way can make it a longer trip. The “best” beach depends on the activity you’re after. There are tide pools and fishing spots within a ten-minute walk while 20 minutes on foot will see you at a sandy beach that’s good for boogie boarding. A 30-minute walk leads to a lagoon full of migrating birds and an interesting surf spot.

The “best” time (as in the one that attracts the most visitors) is from November to April. During this period, there’s no rain, there’s good surf and temperatures are cooler, attracting people from all around the globe. We also like late July or early August when it rains almost every night and the late afternoon skies become a thing of beauty. The clouds move from grey to purple, with red, peach and pink popping up on the horizon.

New this week: Casa La Oliva in Fuerteventura, Spain
welcomebeyond.com/casa-la-oliva/

Casa La Oliva is located in the heart of Fuerteventura in the authentic Canarian village of La Oliva. This completely renovated, 19th-century property is an architectural gem, consisting of two exclusive suites that stand on the foundation of a former theatre and original “casa”.

In the suites, minimalism predominates. The clean lines, whitewashed walls and square windows overlooking the courtyard give a feeling of space and lightness while the colourful sofas, rattan chairs and wooden tables add a touch of warmth.

Breakfast is included in the rates and features local, seasonal and regional products while cleaning is provided daily. We also have a concierge service to help guests with booking private transportation, walking/cycling tours, surf lessons and boat trips, as well as massages, cultural excursions and visits to nearby Lobos Island.

In addition to hiking/trekking, you can go horseback riding, visit the Ajuy Caves and Punta Jandía Lighthouse or take a boat trip to the offshore islands. The closest beach is around 15 minutes by car. We particularly love the wild beaches of El Cotillo and Corralejo Dunes Natural Park.

Featured: Azores House in the Azores, Portugal
welcomebeyond.com/azores-house/

Azores House is our family nest and the perfect spot to relax. It’s a project made out of love and resilience. Surrounded by greenery and overlooking the ocean, the house is located on São Miguel in the Azores.

In front of the house is a big garden with breathtaking ocean views. On the front porch, you can enjoy an alfresco lunch or barbecue, with the kitchen just inside on your left. If you are lucky, you may see dolphins jumping out of the water.

It may sound cliché, but the beauty of the Azores can be enjoyed at any time of the year. The archipelago has a unique microclimate, so if you travel in the summer, you can wake up to rain, enjoy lunch in the sunshine and end the day with a lot of wind. By this, I mean you can experience four seasons in one day and that’s quite magical.

The closest beach is right in front of our house and is perfect for a deep swim. Other options include the new harbour in Faial da Terra where you can jump into the crystalline waters. I would recommend visiting the Terra Nostra Garden, trying “Cozido das Furnas” (a typical meal cooked underground using volcanic heat) and going to Poça da Dona Beija at night. This thermal paradise is located in Furnas and has water temperatures around 38 degrees Celsius.

New this week: Aurora Cabin on the Lofoten islands, Norway
https://www.welcomebeyond.com/aurora-cabin/

Aurora Cabin is a secret hideaway in the magical Lofoten Islands. The dramatic scenery and unique landscape can be observed from the cosy wooden cabin, which is located at the edge of Austvågøya’s highest mountain, Higravstinden. It’s the perfect place to recharge after your adventures and observations in the archipelago.

Aurora Cabin is located at the end of a steep street, within a small holiday cottage area of about 15 houses. This itself is part of a little village. In Svolvaer, which is a scenic 25-minute drive, you’ll find restaurants, supermarkets and everything you need. Svolvaer is the capital of the Lofoten Islands. The house itself is surrounded by the most beautiful nature overlooking Austnesfjorden.

I would recommend going hiking or ski-touring on Higravstinden, with trails starting directly from Aurora Cabin’s doorstep. Henningsvaer, with its little shops and bars, is wonderful to walk around or you can take a speedboat excursion to the famous Trollfjord. You can also go on fishing excursions, sea eagle tours or guided photography trips.

Each season has its own charm. In the summer, the mountains are green and the fjords a turquoise blue colour, plus you have long nights. In autumn, the leaves of the birch trees start to turn shades of red and yellow while the wintertime offers magical white landscapes and clear nights. From September to March is the best time to observe the northern lights.
