Arrived in the Marriott Frankfurt Airport for the flight tomorrow morning to Austin. Fresh dishes are prepared in the M Club in the evening, which can be viewed in advance using a sample. Today, one guest was so hungry that he didn't wait for the chef but ate the sample instead.

Despite the thunderstorms that hit the Canary Islands at the weekend, I was able to observe the penumbral lunar eclipse on Monday morning near the San Antonio volcano on La Palma. Unfortunately, the moon faded into the haze well before the theoretical setting time, and the sunrise behind the island of Tenerife at the same time was also not visible, only about 10 minutes later did the sun fight its way through the haze. The infrared camera didn't help either. Tenerife was not visible at all...the images are from 06h56m UT.

The clearing came an hour later than predicted, nevertheless I managed this shot in the "laundry room sky“ at the edge of the Alps at maximum eclipse. During the day it looked there still completely different.

I had 2 telescopes in use for this eclipse. One was a Baader Travel Companion 90/560. The movie shows the 5 minutes around the maximum without any solar filter. You can see baily's beads, prominences, the chromosphere and also the innermost corona.

I had 2 telescopes in use for this eclipse. One was a Celestron 80/600 with a Coronado 90 h-alpha filter. The movie shows the 4 minutes around the maximum. Because of the exposure in h-alpha a ring can be seen despite the position close to the northern border of the path.

Unfiltered picture shows a prominence, the chromosphere and the innermost corona. 95/560mm refractor with a Herschel Prism, no filter. My position was just in the path of annularity.
