...The evening closed with four digestive long drinks inspired by the role of the building in the local community. Because I have been part of it for a while, Mastiha Skinos liqueur was added in one of them.

... On the third floor, the dessert was associated with the artist Simone Westphal and her work "The Post Mortem Felted Club" (in collaboration with Menno Veldhuis). Artists who lived for their art like Keith Haring, return back to Earth as a group (wool dolls). This was a cotton-like panna cotta that traveled to childhood memories and gave a sense of touch of dolls and colorful petit fours from a local bakery.

Meet our team! The Initiator
When Dimitri started investing in the stock market at the age of 14, it seemed he would have a brilliant career in finance. At 23, he was already working in private equity and later at the European Central Bank. However, his volunteering experience in the cultural field inspired him to realise that finance can be used to create sustainable models and address social issues, and he decided to explore this path, combining it with his passion for traveling & food.

​During this quest, he worked on innovative gastronomy & sustainable/alternative tourism projects with a consulting company (Italy) and contributed to multi-sensory cultural events (Greece, Austria, Germany). He also pursued a Master of Philosophy in Finance (University of Cambridge), although his accent suggests nothing of this!

​Inspired by the power of food in carrying stories and bringing people together, Dimitri committed himself to deploy his experience towards redefining culinary tourism practices aiming to both memorable, one-of-a-kind experiences and social impact.

Mia is international architect, curator and creative director with several years professional experience working with developers and private clients throughout the UK, Austria, Greece and UAE.​

​Her portfolio includes the design and management of a wide range of projects in multiple disciplines and locations. With the core of her spectrum gravitating around the field of architecture and the cultural management, she has always maintained an interest in crossing the boundaries between disciplines.

​This is reflected into the fields of exhibition and product design, art installations, academic projects and cultural events as well as in the variety of design projects ranging from private houses to commercial and retail spaces.​

Meet Maria! The Calligrapher
Maria was born in Piraeus, studied graphic arts when Photoshop was still new born along with painting, and illustration at various artists. Still not satisfied of all these but looking for her personal inclination continued searching and working on book illustrations, byzantine iconography and mixed technique artworks.

​On the parallel she was and still is working in Bank of Greece passing through, Public relations, Museum and finally nowadays the Historical Archives. On 1993 she discovered Greek calligraphy. Actually she found out that what she missed most on an artwork was words.

Being a bookworm, words written in different scriptures were essential to the image and an important factor of its actual transformation. So she studied paleography and begun to explore the wonderful and unknown world of Greek calligraphy. Moreover she works on using them on artworks exhibiting them or taking part with them in exhibitions in Greece and around the world.

​Truly believing that calligraphy can be used in many applications and help in promoting and redefining the image of Greek stories and products is participating in projects that targeting to the interweaving of senses, arts and knowledge.

Meet our Team ! The Bartender
Stavros started working as assistant waiter, when he was 18 in order to be able to pay the fees for his music school. The more he was getting in contact with the raw materials and people, the more he was getting fascinated by the way he could transform the former into memorable experiences.

​Thus, he invested into relevant seminars and trips and soon he was working at Baba Au Rum, one of the top bars in the world. In the meanwhile, he received recognition through contests (with first the Skinos Masticha one) and he got world-class classifications (WSPC). After, passing by Spoiled Bar, he became one of the main bartenders of The Clumsies, the 7th best bar in the world, retaining the same sparkle for knowledge, advancement and top-notch services as when he was starting.

​Lastly, he is wild prickly pear producer at his birthplace; historical Mani and holds a diploma on “Gastronomy Tourism” from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Joana "Asia" Waluszko spicy, yet approachable personality inspired earthy, but chilly flavors in combination with the patented Geilo sauce. There was a vegan choice with grilled vegetables and another one with chicken base, all local. Finally, due to her Polish origin, a large version of pirogi with local pork was offered.

For the main dish we entered into the 2-3-square-meter atelier of the multi-faceted musician Joana "Asia" Waluszko, which is shared with the painter Jeanne van Dijk. Joana spoke about the symbolic function of the space as the smallest club, composing a piece of house music on the spot and shortly afterwards. burst into laughter and began to sing opera.

...then we moved to the first-floor appetizer at Kathrin Ollroge's atelier, which was recently awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her "Room for Thoughts" project in parts of Germany experiencing social changes. Two salads in glass jars, the first being inspired by the colors of her work with local tomatoes, peach on the grill and mint with pink salt. The second reflected its conceptual character and contained cucumber with iced coconut milk, coriander, lemon and pink pepper, which "burst" into the mouth.

The thread of the evening began to unfold outside the center, indicating details of its past, present, and future. (There is an organization that wants to rebuild Garnisonkirche in which Hi**er symbolically took his power.) A piece of façade with the "Kosmos-Mosaik" declared as a cultural heritage was the passage to the garden, where Hasi prepared four different cocktail shots inspired by the history of the building. Choices ranged from non-alcoholic mango vinegar and local fruit juices to the fourth and strongest, reflecting the building's activist story, reproducing mild co***ne effects with materials such as 8-year-old black rum and simultaneous coffee chewing.

Flavors of Art ended up to the Rechenzentrum in Potsdam, half an hour out of Berlin, supported by the START: Create Cultural Change programme. START supports young, promising cultural managers with innovative projects and it is empowered by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and other institutions.

One of the challenges was to find the right flavor makers for the project and bring them in contact with the artists and their work: The emblematic bartender "Hasi" that his speakeasy-style bar, Bar-O-Meter, had not even written cocktail lists and Ka from Art Gourmet, a self-taught chef from his 17th year and rapper, with clients including important politicians, among others.

For us there are no clients that will attend a lecture and will taste some food in a factory-like order. Instead there are participants that co-create with us the experience ad-hoc, since non of them is repeated the same.

Eventually, Flavors of Art is about thought-provoking experiences that worth to be remembered, shared and narrated!

The special site of Rechnenzetrum, defined the project: "Table Deconstructed". The concept of the table was redefined as a meeting place, rather than a furniture and the building was turned into a table for one night.

The attendees enjoyed a three-course menu inspired by the work of three artists, in their ateliers with them being present.

We distinguished food, not only because we love it, but also for its ability to carry stories and emotions and to bring people together. The Rechenzentrum was a data center from the GDR era and now operates as an art residence. At first sight, it is a gray mass of concrete, stairwells and corridors. But somewhere in its dozens of doors, the country of miracles begins. Each door leads to the unique atelier of one of the creators that reside there, as a gate to a fourth dimension: the dimension of ideas.
