TRAVELOGUE - REISEBERICHT Nr 3: Das Coverfoto und die Auswahl der Musikstücke

Das Cover

Im September 2014 hatte ich plötzlich den Regisseur Reda Roshdy in der Leitung.
Er fragte, ob ich Lust und Zeit hätte, das Musical 'In 80 Tagen um die Welt' für Kinder zu vertonen,
Livedarbietungen im Innsbrucker Treibhaus inklusive. Vielleicht würde ich auch ein, zwei kleine Rollen als Schauspieler übernehmen wollen?
Wow, eine coole Anfrage! Bin ich doch Spezialist in musikalischen Reiseberichten :-) Ich checkte meine Verfügbarkeit,mein Honorar und sagte zu. Und fragte, wie er denn auf mich gekommen sei. Harry Triendl hätte mich vermittelt.
Aaaah, Harald Triendl ist eine der wichtigsten Anlaufstellen für musikalisch künstlerische Angelegenheiten in Tirol.
Irgendwie kennt er Alle und hat jede Menge Kontakte. Abgesehen von seinen wunderbaren Projekten, die er Land auf Land ab auf die Bühne bringt. Danke Harry!

Harald kam dann zur Premiere von 80 Tagen um die Welt, filmte und fotografierte die ganze Show. Fürs Archiv, möchte man meinen.
Ein Schnappschuss war dann mit mir und dem Globus, mit Africa ganz prominent im Bild.
Zufall, der Globus war mit Sicherheit nur bei dieser Aufführung so eingestellt. Aber Harald hat's geschafft, ein zukünftiges Projekt schon mal vorab zu dokumentieren....gehen doch alle Einnahmen von TRAVELOGUE als Spendenaktion an Licht für die Welt, und Licht für die Welt arbeitet vor allem in Africa.
Ein simples Motto: Geht es Africa gut, geht es allen gut.

Die Auswahl

Ich bin musikalisch ein Chameleon. Einerseits gehts bei Punkrock, Freejazz und Noise ordentlich zur Sache, andererseits habe ich ein Fable für klassisches Songwriting, verstehe mich gut mit Ambient, praktiziere elektronische Musik und liebe alle Arten von Handtrommeln.

Für TRAVELOGUE habe ich mich dann letztendlich entschlossen, die härteren Gangarten auszusparen, um ein halbwegs ausgewogenes Klangbild für Licht für die Welt zu bieten.
Dabei mussten eigentlich inhaltlich passende Musikperformances wie Living with the bridge (mit Belinda Reinhardt), Mary space flight (mit Frenk Rainy Lebel),
Dann fuhr ich wieder heim (mit Christof Kurzmann), Why spend money on stupid things (mit HCL, Andreas Lettner), Japanese Market (mit Syntony, Florian Bramböck) oder Spiritual Gang Bang (mit Bluemling, Michael Cabas) auf der Strecke bleiben.

Auch verzichtete ich auf die Tribalversion von Men at works Down Under (Moongroove, aufgenommen von Wolfgang Sauter, 1996), um keine rechtlichen Probleme zu bekommen. Mann weiss nie...:(

Und jetzt hab ich Lust ein NOISE OF TRAVEL Album zusammenzustellen, da hat das dann alles Platz! Fever.

TRAVELOGUE - TRAVEL REPORT No. 3: The cover photo and the selection of the pieces of music

In September 2014, I suddenly had the director Reda Roshdy on the line.
He asked if I had the time and the desire to set the musical 'In 80 Days Around the World' for children, Live performances at Innsbruck Treibhaus included. Maybe I would take over one or two small roles as an actor as well?
Wow, a cool request! I'm a specialist in musical travelogues :-) I checked my availability, my fee and said yes. And asked how he came to me. Harald Triendl would have mediated me.
Aaaah, Harald Triendl is one of the most important contact points for musical arts in Tyrol. Somehow he knows everybody and has lots of contacts. Apart from his wonderful projects he brings to the stage land on land.

Harald then came to the premiere of 80 days around the world, filmed and photographed the whole show. For the archive, one might say.
A snapshot was then with me and the globe, with Africa quite prominent in the picture.
Coincidence, the globe was certainly set so only in this performance. But Harald did it, he documented a future project in advance ....
becouse all income of TRAVELOGUE goes as a fundraiser to Light for the world, and Light for the world works especially in Africa.

A simple quote: If Africa is doing well, everyone is fine.

The selection

I am a Chameleon musically. On the one hand, it goes down well with punk rock, free jazz and noise, on the other hand, I have a fable for classical songwriting, understand Ambient well, practice electronic music and love all kinds of hand drums.

For TRAVELOGUE, I finally decided to leave out the harder gaits for a reasonably balanced soundscape for Light for the world.
Actually I had to abandon content-related music performances such as Living with the bridge (with Belinda Reinhardt), Mary space flight (with Frenk Lebel),
Dann fuhr ich wieder heim (with Christof Kurzmann), Why spend money on stupid things (with HCL, Andreas Lettner), Japanese Market (with Syntony, Florian Bramböck) or Spiritual Gang Bang (with Bluemling, Michael Cabas).

Also, I renounced the tribal version of Men at works' Down Under (Moongroove, recorded by Wofgang Sauter, 1996), I coud get problems with copyright.
Man never knows ... :(

And now I want to put together a NOISE OF TRAVEL album, there's room for everything! Fever.

But first I will write 11 more TRAVELOGUE TRAVEL REPORTS on the individual songs of the album ....

TRAVELOGUE - REISEBERICHT Nr 2: Die Entstehung Teil 2

Yepp, Sohn Samuel Plieger hat endlich sein Mac Book! 'Jetzt kann er aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Aaaah und April ist auch, unglaublich warm, wow, die Rückkehr der Sonne, der Sommer 2018 könnte heiß werden', dachte ich mir.
Als nächstes kam dann:
'Eigentlich wäre es nun Zeit für das Travelogue Album, am besten gleich noch vor dem Sommer. Auf Bandcamp meinetwegen, kauft zwar kaum jemand, aber action brings good fortune!'...Euphorische Frühlingsgefühle, aus 'vor dem Sommer' wurde September...

Abends saß ich dann mit meinem Bruder Didier Hampl zusammen und erzählte ihm mein Vorhaben. Während ich so meine Stimme hörte, kam mir der Gedanke, die Einnahmen des Travelogue Albums zu spenden. Und auf eine meiner Reisen habe ich mir vorgenommen, zukünftige Projekte möglicht groß anzulegen, um ein weniger mickriges Ergebnis zu erreichen :-)
Deshalb erwog ich eine Spendenaktion für WWF oder Greenpeace und plötzlich dachte ich an meinen alten Freund Franko Petri. Ich wusste über seine Tätigkeit für den WWF, er könnte mich sicher vermitteln.

Also rief ich Franko an und erklärte ihm mein Vorhaben. Er meinte, dass er nun für 'Licht für die Welt' arbeite und dass ihm die Idee gut gefalle. Ich solle doch die Einnahmen an 'Licht für die Welt' spenden. Aha, ok, ich bemerkte sofort, das machte Sinn. Wiener NGO, weltweit tätig. Geld spenden für Menschen, die sonst ohne Augenpflege auskommen müssten. Ich bin selbst Brillenträger und kam in jungen Jahren schon zweimal in den Genuss, von Optikern Brillen spendiert zu bekommen, ich hatte ganz einfach kein Geld dazu. So könnte ich endlich mir schon Zugeflossenes zurückgeben.

Auch Samuel und Bruder Didier waren von den Ideen zu Travelogue begeistert. Bei mehreren nachfolgenden Gesprächen darüber kristallisierte sich heraus, dass Samuel mit seinem neuem Mac Book die Grafikarbeiten (learning by doing) und Didier Mastering und auch Mixing für diverse Songs übernehmen würden. Ein Familienunternehmen! Wunderbar. So lässt sich das umsetzen!

Franko schickte ich gleich eine Projektbeschreibung und kurz darauf unterschrieb ich schon den Kooperationsvertrag mit 'Licht für die Welt'. Geklappt.
Point of no return.

Natürlich waren meine Gedanken schon bei der Zusammenstellung der Songs für das Album, auch das Foto für das Cover hatte ich schon.

TRAVELOGUE - TRAVEL REPORT No. 2: The Genesis Part 2

Yepp, son Samuel finally got his Mac Book! 'Now he can draw on the full. Aaaah and it's April too, incredibly warm, wow, the return of the sun, the summer of 2018 could get hot', I thought to myself. Next came:
'Actually, it would be time for the Travelogue album, preferably before the summer. On Bandcamp for my sake, hardly anyone buys, but action brings good fortune!'... Euphoric spring fever, from 'before summer' became September ...

In the evening I sat down with my brother Didier and told him about my plans. As I heard my voice, I thought, to donate the revenue of the Travelogue album. And on one of my trips, I've decided to make future projects as big as possible, to achieve a less puny result :-)
That's why I considered a fundraiser for WWF or Greenpeace and suddenly I thought of my old friend Franko. I knew
about his work for the WWF, he certainly could convey me.

So I called Franko and explained my intention to him. He said that he is now working for 'Light for the World' and that he likes the idea. I should donate the proceeds to 'Light for the World'. Aha, ok, I noticed right away that this made sense. Vienna NGO, active worldwide. Donate money to people who
otherwise would have to live without eye care. I myself am a wearer of glasses and in my younger years I have been able to enjoy twice a donation of glasses by opticians, I just did not have any money for it. So finally I could give back what already flowed in.

Samuel and Didier were also enthusiastic about the ideas for Travelogue. In several subsequent talks about it, it became clear, that Samuel with his new Mac Book would take over the graphics work (learning by doing) and Didier the mastering and mixing for various songs.
A family business! Wonderful. That's the way to do it!

I immediately sent a project description to Franko and soon afterwards I signed the cooperation agreement with 'Light for the world'. Worked.
Point of no return.

Of course, my thoughts were already in the compilation of the songs for the album, also the photo for the cover I already had.
