Know Your Peaks: Ecuadorian Andes Edition 🇪🇨🏔 Here’s 10 of our favorites listed in order of height: 🗻

1️⃣ Chimborazo 6.270 m (20,571 ft): “The Closest to Space” - Standing as the highest peak in Ecuador, Chimborazo’s summit is the farthest point from the Earth’s center due to the equatorial bulge and reaches further into space than the summit of Everest!

2️⃣ Cotopaxi 5.897 m. (19,347 ft): “The Neck Of The Moon” - A perfect cone, Cotopaxi is one of the world’s highest active volcanoes. Cotopaxi means Neck of the moon in Kichwa. The Incas rightfully believed that Cotopaxi looked like a headless neck with a white poncho looking up at the sky. 🌕

3️⃣ Cayambe 5.790 m. (18,996 ft): “Equatorial Snowy Majesty” - The only point on the Equator with snow, Cayambe boasts a stunning glacier, where we practice skills on our expeditions. ❄️⛏

4️⃣ Antisana 5.758 m. (18,891 ft): “Technical Wildlife Haven” - Known for its diverse ecosystems, Antisana is nestled right on the border between the Andes range and the Amazon Basin. The climb is highly technical and the route changes all of the time due the unique climate here. 🌿

5️⃣ El Altar 5.319 m. (17,451 ft): “A Sacred Amphitheater” - With a series of towering peaks resembling a sacred altar, this extinct volcano is steeped in local myths. Explore its mystical allure and the challenging trails that lead to its hidden wonders on our advanced expedition ❄️⛏

6️⃣ Los Ilinizas 5.126 m. (16,818 ft) / 5.263 m. (17,267 ft): “The Twin Peaks” - Two stunning peaks that used to be one big volcano. Norte is pure rock while Sur has a glacier. Climb Norte with us on our beginner trips and Sur on our Intermediate and Advanced expeditions!

7️⃣ Quilindaña 4.919 m. (16,139 ft): “The Ecuadorian Matterhorn” - Quilindaña is one of the least climbed and most inaccessible mountains in Ecuador. It’s a technical peak without glacier and a real adventure far off the beaten track ⛰

8️⃣ Rucu Pichincha 4.696 m. (15,406 ft) “Overlooking Quito” - An active stratovolcano, Rucu Pichincha provides stunning views of Quito and is great for acclimatization!

9️⃣ Rumiñahui 4.721 m. (15,489 ft): "The Stone Sentinel" - Named after an Inca warrior, Rumiñahui offers challenging ascents and spectacular views as it’s situated right in front of the Cotopaxi Volcano inside the national park.

🔟 Pasochoa 4.200 m. (13,779 ft.): "A Biodiversity Hotspot" - Nestled within a cloud forest, Pasochoa is a haven for biodiversity. Discover the unique flora and fauna surrounding this extinct volcano on our beginner trips 💪🏽
