It's time for another amazing aquascape from our passionate community! This week, we're excited to feature and his beautiful "Riverbed" aquascape.

Josh was inspired by the serene beauty of a river and aimed to capture a truly natural look in his aquascape. The result is something completely different and uniquely stunning. His favorite plant in this setup is Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae, which adds a lush and vibrant touch to the scape.

Bucephalandra sp. 'Needle Leaf'! 🌱✨

This unique plant, hailing from Asia, shares similarities with Anubias from Africa, making it a familiar yet distinct addition to your aquarium. 🌍💚

Bucephalandra 'Needle Leaf' features slender, elongated leaves with tiny white dots and a touch of red on the youngest parts of the rhizome. While it has slightly higher demands than other Bucephalandras, it’s still very easy to grow. Add some CO2 and a bit more light for optimal growth. 🌿💡

Inspired by the renowned aquascaper Oliver Knott, this tank has been flourishing for the past 10 months.

Some of 's favorite plants in this aquarium include Cryptocoryne beckettii ‘Petchii’, Staurogyne repens, Legenandra meeboldi ‘Red’, Echinodorus Ozelot, and the beautiful Nymphaea lotus, which has already bloomed magnificently in the tank.

We believe there is something very special about witnessing a tight school of fish swimming amongst vibrant and colourful plants. 🌿🌷

Here we have Blueberry tetras (Hyphessobrycon wadai), a relative large tetra compared with the classics we usually see in many aquascapes, so they're more suited to larger aquariums with plenty of swimming space. 🫐

We particularly love how the colours compliment the stunning Limnophila hippuridoides stem plants in the background. 💜🩷

Check out the amazing foreground on this aquascape featuring a carpet of Lilaeopsis brasiliensis and Hydrocotyle verticulata. 🌿

Mixing carpeting plants this way is a highly effective way at producing a more natural appearance with the two species contrasting so well. 💚

The distinctive Hydrocotyle reminds us of mushrooms sprouting from a lawn! 🍄🌱

Bucephalandra 'Kedagang' is one of the hobby's most popular "Buces" due to its easy care, slow and steady growth and beautiful leaf shape, colour and texture. 😍

It will grow well in shaded areas attached to your hardscape, or equally well in brighter light, and does not tend to attract algae like many other slow growing attaching plants can, such as Anubias. 🌿

In stronger lighting the leaves can obtain a delightful blue/purple iridescence, as well as a striking red rhizome. 🔴

It's important not to completely bury the plant into your substrate as the rhizome can suffocate due to lack of oxygen. 🫧

Propagation is straightforward by dividing the plant at the rhizome and re-attaching the off-cut plant elsewhere. ✂️

Some consider keeping a successful planted discus aquarium to the pinnacle of the freshwater aquarium hobby. 👑 🐟 🌿

The challenges are usually associated with high temperatures and large amounts of waste. 💩

Here is a great example photographed at last year during our visit. 💚

We believe the key components for success here are appropriate plant choice to tolerate the high temperatures, powerful filtration, and an easy to maintain layout to ensure minimal accumulation of waste. 🧼

🌿 Meet Limnophila Hippuridoides: This Asian beauty boasts stalks reaching 20-50 cm high and 6-10 cm wide with charmingly crooked shoot tips. Adaptable and vibrant, it thrives in diverse conditions. Its leaves are green with a stunning red-violet underside, turning entirely red-violet in ideal growth conditions. With vigorous growth, it sprouts new shoots from the base, so remember to thin the older ones to make room for fresh growth. Don't toss the cut-offs—replant them, and watch new roots bloom! And, here's a fun fact: if you dare to damage a stem or leaf, it'll emit a strong scent! 🌱✨

🌿 Last Saturday, Tropica ambassador in Italy, Samuele Gamberini did a live workshop at Il Germoglio.
The 900-liter tank was set up in record time. It only took 1 and a half hours.
14 bags of Tropica Soil 9L and many 1-2-Grow! were used. For details, they use a lot of Christmas moss!
