You astonished all who met you, such a handsome boy. There was nothing you wouldn't do for us Ned. You were such a loyal and gentle giant. A best friend for Opee, she misses you immensely. Your loss has hit us hard, but left us with the greatest of memories. Forever in our hearts. Fly high Ned. 💞🌈

Question #2: what about AC?..❄️ do you need it during the winter months in the Calibishie area?...after the hurricane season, 🌀(November 30th, it officially ends), the air becomes drier over-all, on Dominica. 🌞The humidity from summer and autumn dissipates, and the winds pick up.🌬
Especially where we are located, there is always an ocean breeze throughout the winter months. Most of our guests never need to turn the AC on from December to March. Preferring instead, the cooling ocean breeze and ceiling fans while sleeping. 😴 Of course, we have AC, but you may not need it. Besides! the winter months are excellent months to sit around the propane fire pit 🔥in the garden here at Hodges Bay House! 🌄

Frequent questions regarding visiting Dominica, and what to expect when you get here 🌴 #1: what if I don't rent a car?...there are many ways to get around the island, and although a vehicle rental allows the freedom of a more personalized adventure, not to mention see'ing so much more... you can hire drivers, 🚕 join excursions that offer transportation, jump on a local bus,🚌 and ride share with others traveling in your direction🚗 to name but a few options. So, You don't necessarily need to rent a car to enjoy Dom! 🏞 Stayed tuned for more frequently asked questions!

Hello All!! 😃 Hodges Bay House will be closed for the month of September. We will be using this time to catch up on some maintenance, further landscaping, and painting projects. 🔨🛠🖌 So that we can be in tip top shape for the start of our high season!💯💪🏼 We are so grateful for all our guests over these past 9 months, you make us want to succeed all the more! 🤩

Now for some deck furniture...thinking turquoise loungers and bright yellow umbrellas!...💦😃
As a kid: gee I wish I knew someone with a pool....As an adult: gee I wish I knew someone who lived in the Caribbean...

Ta dah!...Just filled the pool over the past few days..the water still needs to clear a bit..but it's happening! Infinity pool project complete! Come on in, the water is fine!!

I know...banging on about the pool again!!..🤪... new landscape lighting!!...ta dah!!
For us, it's the last big project at Hodges Bay House, and it's been a long year of paint, concrete, wood, decisions and endless discussions...patience...tons of patience..endless hours of hard work..our contractor and crew showing up day in and day out for almost 10 straight months...sometimes we were rained out and had to stop projects...sometimes it was so sunny and hot we thought we were crazy for working so hard. Yet, here we are...1 week from filling this pool...and that's it!!...( please 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 do not rain now...😅 ) done...finished...fini...( except plants...I will never be done planting my gardens...💚)
