Today is and the theme of 2024 is "land restoration, desertification and drought resilience."

We wanted to take the time to highlight an important initiative in the Dominican Republic called 'Plan Yaque.' As much as we are proud of our tourism milestones, it's no secret that the tourism and real estate industries do impact the land and infrastructure, including land degradation.

Plan Yaque was founded in 2009 & brings together 30 organizations to "conserve the Yaque River basin, the Dominican Republic’s lifeline." They have already reforested a fifth of the country and continue to select properties for reforestation. A balance between a healthy ecology and the industries that provide the most to the economy is absolutely a must.

World Turtle Day: Today is the perfect day to highlight an important initiative in the Dominican Republic - the Saona Island turtle conservation!

In the village of Mano Juan on Saona Island, there is a turtle conservation project in which turtle nests are monitored with a GPS system. Eggs are transferred to the sanctuary and are incubated until they hatch (nesting season is March-Nov). From there, the newborn babies are released back into the ocean. This sanctuary is the most important nesting area for marine turtles on the entire island, and these turtle eggs are collected from across the country.

Hawkbill turtles are nearing extinction in the Dominican Republic, so these efforts were created over 10 years ago by the government, tourism industry, and local fishermen, to help protect them from high risk areas and to ensure a large population of them are able to nest back into the water.

Certain Saona Island tours will take you to visit the sanctuary, where you can learn all about the turtles and the process.

EXCITING UPDATE for Casa de Campo 📢

Starting December 5th, American Airlines will officially be implementing a nonstop route directly from Miami to the La Romana Airport located inside the Casa de Campo property!

Casa de Campo also has some new updates to add to the luxury of the exclusive space: a new high tech spa center and a new "resort-within-resort," featuring 58 suites with private concierge service, turndown, pillow menus, and dedicated golf carts (and more!)

Activity Highlight 🌊

We recently spent the day at📍El Dorado Waterpark in Cap Cana, and we absolutely loved the experience. The park design and atmosphere stay true to the El Dorado theme. It has more than 20 attractions, which are divided into 4 zones.

🌊Admission: usd $129 adult (13+) / $69 kids (4-12) / toddlers are free (under 4). You can also include a transfer from your hotel. There are discounted tickets + season's passes for residents.

🌊Tickets can be purchased on their website, at the entrance, and through their hotel partners. Free parking (VIP parking is offered for $20)

🌊Lazy river, wave pool, snorkeling area, private beach, slides, and more adventure filled activities. They have a specific area for the younger kids.

🌊5 restaurants / gift shop / 6 areas to relax

🌊Find onsite: WiFi, lockers, life jackets, lounge chairs

We recently got to go see the brand new Secrets Tides Punta Cana resort in Uvero Alto and we were so impressed!

The grounds are absolutely stunning, exuding a clean, elegant, and modern look that you can find across the entire resort. There is certainly a more upscale feel to the atmosphere.

We had a wonderful time at the Hard Rock FAM Jam this weekend. It was so nice to connect with the team at Hard Rock and fellow agents 👐

Here are some scenes from the Barbie themed closing party and some bowling fun! Such a fabulous time ✨️

The Hard Rock Hotel is definitely one of our favorites and easily the most action-packed, entertaining, and activity filled stay in Punta Cana for all ages. We are looking forward to another year of showing you guys everything it has to offer.

If there's ever a time to work with a travel agent, we definitely recommend it for group trips. Especially when it comes to the DR, as there are so many resorts and activities that seem great on the outside but fail to deliver in reality. With large groups, everyone has their own preferences, requirements, and levels of organization, and as with all island life, the DR operates very differently than the US. Our goal is always to be the mediator that helps provide ease in the process - which can sometimes become frustrating if you are not used to how everything works here.

Transportation can be another tricky one, and we have you covered every time 🙌

Grateful to spend another day at the village that has become special to us 🙏

We have partnered with the pastor here, Eduardo (lovingly referred to as Papi), who has been doing wonderful work in assisting local people with their needs and aiming to build educational programs to help the community advance. With some help from family and friends, we were able to purchase and deliver some much needed furniture pieces to a selfless mom dedicating her entire life to taking care of her son, who is not able to do so on his own.

We also had another toy, clothing, and food drive, and it was a great success!

If you're looking to donate to a great cause, we can happily accept toys, food items, clothing, and furniture that will go directly to the families we will be visiting regularly. In the meantime, we will also be working with Eduardo to continue developing the very important educational programs.

At the end of the day, we are all connected on this earth, and if there are ways we can help each other through tough times, then that's really what humanity is about.

Today is International Day for Monuments and Sites, and we think it's a great opportunity to list some location you should visit in the Dominican Republic.

Aside from tourism and beautiful beaches, Dominican Republic, like every other country, has its own unique history and cultural heritage. We always encourage taking some time to read about the history of the locations we visit.

A few historical/culturally significant sites to visit in the Dominican Republic:

🇩🇴Zona Colonial in the capital, Santo Domingo - remnants of the town founded in 1498 after Christopher Colombus' arrival - the site of the first cathedral, hospital, customs house, and university. Here you can find several museums that can educate you on the history, along with many historic buildings.

🇩🇴Altos de Chavón in Casa de Campo - replica 16th century Mediterranean village designed by Dominican architect Jose Antonio Caro and and Italian master designer and cinematographer Roberto Coppa. Each detail here is hand crafted by local artists and contains active studios for artists of every medium, along with a School of Design. The sites here include an archaeological museum, which offers information about the history of the area, the St. Stanislaus Church, and a 5,000-seat amphitheater.

🇩🇴Basílica Cathedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in Higüey - one of the most significant cathedrals & important religious sites in the Dominican Republic, honouring the patron saint La Virgen de La Altagracia. January 21 is an especially impactful time to visit, as devoted people from across the country gather here for celebration, to pay respects, and make their petitions in front of the alter.

🇩🇴Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration in Santiago de los Caballeros - a large monument on top of a hill surrounded by a park and panoramic views of the mountainous landscapes. It was built to honour the Dominican soldiers who fought the final war of independence against Spain. Inside the monument, you can find a few historical plaques with snippets of information, and on the upper floor, a museum with exhibits of Dominican history.

Highlighting 📍 Star Camp - the kids club at Iberostar Punta Cana!

We not only love the facilities here, but especially the overall theme of the kids club, which draws on the "theory of multiple intelligences". The 140+ programs here are designed to enhance & appeal to the interest & skillset of each individual child (intelligence categories being: logical-mathematical, linguistic, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, & naturalistic). The kids are encouraged to interact and work together in games and recreational + educational activities.

We love that they go above and beyond to not only take care of our children, but to allow them to prosper and grow in the environment. They also provide education about how marine sustainability.

There are 3 age brackets here:
Monkey (4-7 years old)
Dolphin (8-12 years old)
Eagle (13-17 years old)

Happy International Women's Day 💐

We recently had the opportunity to take part in a local charity run by the church in one of our villages. It was a fun event held for local women and children with entertainment, free meals, clothing & toy giveaways.

We've been looking for ways to give back and get more involved in our communities, and we thought this would be a great start. We are hoping to host yearly clothing + toy drives, but more importantly we are aiming to assist in getting basic needs met, improving education & morale, and offering lessons in crucial skills that can propel the community into a successful future.

As women especially, we stand strong and we stand together 🫶

One of our new favorite restaurants: 📍Playa BarcoBar in Bayahibe 🇩🇴

Wonderful seafood with sea views - pure bliss ✨️The food is fresh, the prices are fair, & the sunset views are the cherry on top.

As the restaurant is next to the launching point for Saona Island, BarcoBar makes for a great dinner spot to unwind from a busy boat excursion! Or simply coming to Bayahibe for a day trip is worth it as well, as the beach here is beautiful ⛱️

Happy Valentine's Day from Mr & Mrs Punta Cana 💕

As a little backstory, not only have the couple stayed & researched many of the hotels in Punta Cana, Angel and Eric actually met at the beautiful Paradisus Palma Real hotel. Angel was having the time of her life on vacation, while Eric was working hard at the resort. Although they didn't have much time to spend together, they ultimately couldn't stay away from each other, and their island love quickly blossomed over the months. Paradisus will forever have a special place in their hearts.
