Part 2:

As soon as you walk through the wall city you start to notice the different animal ornament in each door, called Aldabas.But what does this mean? Well, it means that someone in the family was a member of the military, sea merchant, High society – someone with connections to the royal family,etc.

Additional, if you had your door decorations made out of gold it showed society you were rich.

For example if you see a:

🦎Lizards: Royalty or close to the royals
✝️ Cross: A priests, nun, or someone close to the church.

📍Calle el Embudo, La Candelaria (Foto 1 & 2)

Es una de las calles más coloridas y pintorescas de la ciudad vieja en Bogota. Allí encontrarás bares, restaurantes, tiendesitas de los locales.

Al finalizar el recorrido de la calle del Embudo terminarás en:

📍Plazoleta del Chorro de Quevedo

Este es el mejor lugar para probar la famosa bebida tradicional de maíz fermentado llamado (Foto 2&3). La bebida original es la de Maíz pero hoy en día ya tienen de fresa, moras, sandia etc, etc. Les recomiendo que compren un vasito de Chicha lo cual cuesta 2,500 pesos Colombianos ( 0.65 centavos USD) .

En esta plaza también encontrarás el museo de la Chicha.

Fun fact: La Chicha fue prohibida en el siglo 17 por que los sacerdotes decían que todos aquellos que bebían Chicha no obedecían y terminaban en la cárcel 😆

📍Botero Museum (Bogota)

Fernando Botero es un artista Colombiano, conocido a nivel mundial por su estilo al pintar mejor conocido como “El Boterismo”.
El boterismo es un concepto en el cual el representa a los objetos o personas de manera voluptuosa.

Entre sus obras más conocidas está la Mona Lisa Niña 1961.

Botero tenía 3 condiciones para abrir su museo.

1- Museo debe de ser totalmente Gratuito para todas más personas.

2- Botero debía de ser el curador de todas las exposiciones.

3- Ninguna de las piezas en el museo no pueden entrar en cambios Internacionales. Lo cual significa que si quieres ver la “Fat Mona Lisa” solo la podrás ver en Bogota.

Aquí te dejo varias exposiciones que me llamaron la atención.

Nota: En este museo también se encuentran exposiciones de Dalí, Picasso, Monet, entre otros.

Cannot wait for my next trip!

Summer 2020, I had the chance to stay in DR for the entire time due to work from home flexibility. It was one of the best summers ever!

This year, Manny and I decided to do it all over again. So DR for 2 months it is! (Maybe) We only got a one way ticket and really exited to see what new adventures we make while we are there. Any recommendations on things to do?

Traveling during covid times is not as simple as booking your flight anymore. There are many nuisances that must be checked before actually arriving to your destination. Therefore, I have summarized the most important things to do beforehand to avoid any issues.

1- Make sure you FULLY understand the airline COVID guidelines. For example, wearing a mask, social distancing, if the middle seat is empty or not, etc, etc...

2- Make sure you Also understand your destination arrival guidelines. EX:

- Do you need to get a Covid test before departing to your destination?
- Do you need to quarantine when you arrive to your destination? If yes, for how long?
- Is it open for citizens of the country only or for tourists as well?
- Do you need to complete an online form prior to arrival?

3- Check the current COVID-19 situations of your selected travel destination. The has a full list of countries COVID-19 statuses which makes it easier for us.

4- Travel Insurance, make sure to read the small prints when choosing one. Maybe you need to upgrade your travel insurance so that it can cover Covid-19 related illness.

5- If returning to the USA, you need to have a negative Covid test from 72 hours before your flight. If going to a resort they most likely will offer this for free to you. Also, if visiting family abroad make sure to search how much and where in the country you are traveling you can do the test.

6- Even if you got your Covid-19 vaccine you still need to have a negative test result when returning to the 🇺🇸. No special treatments!

7- Research about state specific guidelines when returning from abroad. For example, when entering to New York State you must complete an online form which must be completed 24 hrs before arriving to the state.

8- Double Check you State specific Quarantine guidelines upon returning from your vacation.

This past year many of us realize we cannot just keep writing things down on our bucket-list and keep ignoring it. Life is very short and definitely unexpected.

This is a question many of you have asked yourself. Either because you are thinking of booking a trip, you already booked a trip or you have a travel credit you must use this year. If that’s the case, then this are my recommendations to Safely travel during or .

1- Travel during the week:
Most of the resorts check-ins happen between Thursday - Saturday with most checkouts happening Sunday. Therefore, if you book your trip to check-in Sunday or Monday with check-outs on Thursday or Friday Morning there is a higher chance your stay will not be as crowded.

2- Research hotel Covid #19 protocols:
For example, one of my favorite resort chain follow the Clean Complete Verification Guidelines which is just basically enhanced cleaning procedures that will give you peace of mind during your stay. They also provide COVID-19 testing upon arrival if you would like one for free. Due to their enhanced protocols their properties have received the Safe Travel Stamp of Approval, which is basically an endorsement of highest standards in health and hygiene.

Also since the is requiring negative tests to return to the , this is something most resorts are offering during your stay so that you don’t have to stress about it.

3- Research hotel changes
All hotels/resorts have change their methods of entertainment in order to adhere to Covid policies. That being said, make sure you research or call the hotel about these changes. For example, clubs within the hotel might not be open but they might provide night entertainment outdoors. Moreover, snorkeling equipment rentals might not be available and swim-up bars are definitely shutdown in most resort. But don’t worry they have gotten creative and come up with many other alternatives so that you and your families have the best experiences.
