The Ceiba de Colón is a historical tree located near the mouth of the Río Ozama. Legend states that this is where Christopher Columbus moored his ship the Santa María when he first arrived in the Americas.

The original tree stump is covered in stone and cement. The daughter tree that grew next to the original has also fallen. But, if you look closely, there is still life there as new green sprouts are appearing.

Seso Fruit is almost ripe for the picking. Fruta al Cerebro and Seso are just 2 of the many names given to this strange looking fruit. But, remember, to not eat the fruit until it is completely ripe as it is poisonous. Even if it is ripe it must be cooked before eating. Does anyone here like Seso?

I saw this pretty Black Witch Moth (Ascalapha odorata) at the Faro a Colón. It must have been taking a little rest before the dogs started sticking their noses at it. It finally had enough and flew away.

The Presa de Aguacate on Río Nizao, San Cristobal. These pictures were taken years ago when there was little water in the dam.

Yesterday it was announced that the dam is full and they will be releasing water on Monday November 11. There is a warning for no swimming in Rio Nizao and to be cautious in the area.

Some of the displays inside the Museo de la Catedral on Calle Isabel la Católica. These displays are about the construction of the Cathedral. If you enlarge the images you should be able to read the information on the displays.

A segment of the Berlin Wall / muro de Berlín was donated to Dominican Republic by the German Embassy in 2021 to commemorate the anniversary of the fall of The Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989.

The wall fragment originally was located in the Plaza at Monumento Fray Antonio de Montesino. The salt water was not good for the state of the wall so 1 year later it was moved to the front garden of the National Museum of History and Geography / jardín delantero del Museo Nacional de Historia y Geografía in Plaza de la Cultura where it can be seen now.

Fuerte de Angulo was a military station located at the far corner at the frontier of the walled city of Santo Domingo. This fort, originally named the Fuertecillo, ,was constructed in the 18th century.
