When the weather is crispy and snowy, it's perfect for ice skating. These are 5 scenic ice rinks you must try this winter! ⛸❄️ Which one would you like to try?

1. Old Town Ice Rink in Tallinn ⛪️

A unique pop-up ice skating rink in the centre of Tallinn's Old Town opens at the beginning of December and closes at the end of March or the beginning of April, as the spring sun arrives. Find more information here: https://visitestonia.com/en/old-town-ice-rink

2. Telliskivi Ice Rink in Tallinn ✌️

3, Tartu city centre skating rink 🏛

Here, the most romantic and fun winter entertainment—skating—can be enjoyed under the starry sky. Find more information here: https://visitestonia.com/en/tartu-city-centre-skating-rink

4. Lake Paala natural ice rink in Viljandi ❄️❄️

In winter, Viljandi becomes the country's ice skating capital. As soon as the lake ice is thick and safe enough, the people of the local cycling club make sure that everyone can enjoy an active holiday in the fresh air. Find more information here: https://visitestonia.com/en/lake-paala-natural-ice-rink

5. Ice skating in the nature 🤯

Ice skating in Estonia is never boring. Glide over frozen rivers and bog lakes, twirl on urban ice rinks, skate over the sea — options are endless! Skip the artificial ice rinks this winter and opt for the real deal. Frozen bays, lakes, and ponds across Estonia make fantastic natural ice rinks to skate on. What better way to explore Estonia during this beautiful time of the year? Find more information in the article below! 👇

✨ Saturday is the day to go to Tartu, as the Tartu 2024 European Capital of Culture year will be marked with a big party. The title of the Capital of Culture's end-of-year party, 'Stay and Create', symbolises endurance and creation but also looks to the future. ✨

📣 The final celebration of Tartu 2024 is on Saturday, 30 November, on the slope of Toomemäe Hill in Pirogov Park. At 19.00, 20.00, and 21.00, a 15-minute light show will be shown. However, there are special events all over Tartu.

⛸ From 16:00 to 18:45, there will be a Limpa skating disco at Town Hall Square.

⭐️ Tartu Christmas Town will be opened, inviting all Tartu residents and friends of Tartu to enjoy a festive holiday season from 30 November to 5 January.

🎶The celebrations extend from Pirogov Park to Town Hall Square. Between the light performances, the much-loved Curly Strings will give two concert performances on Town Hall Square - at 19.20-19.50 and 20.20-20.50. The end of the party will continue from 21.30-01.00 with an open-air party featuring legendary drum and bass artist Adam F (UK), Estonian Minister of Culture DJ Heidy Purga, Eero and Rene Oliver Muiste (Sound In Noise and Olivar).

📍In addition, there will be a wide range of other exciting events. All the information about the event can be found here 👉 https://tartu2024.ee/en/lopupidu/

For Estonians (and Finns 🙄), there's no set time for a sauna session — it's always a good idea. However, as winter approaches and the cold settles in, the experience becomes even more special.

If you're lucky, you might be able to dive into the snow or take a quick dip in icy water 🥶 for the ultimate refreshing experience. This is a bucket-list experience when visiting Estonia.

⭐️ Also, we don't want to brag, but together with Finns, we hold the Guinness World Record for the most Facebook pictures taken in a sauna. That's fit for a true digital sauna society. 😅

🔥 Saunas hold a special place in Estonian culture, and you'll find many creative and unique variations. Take a look at them here:

Looking for an out-of-the-ordinary, extra-special sauna experience? DIY and even portable saunas have been popping up across the country. Here's our favorite selection of creative saunas in Estonia.
