1- Bahariya Oasis:
A group of oases located north of the Western Desert and affiliated with Giza Governorate, about 400 km from Cairo. It is said that it was named by this name because it is the closest Egyptian oases to Lower Egypt and the Nile Delta. It is said to be to the Mediterranean Sea, and it consists of several small oases:
Al-Bawiti (capital) - Al-Hara - Mendisha - Al-Ajouz - Qabbalah - Al-Haiz - Al-Zubu - Al-Qasr.
It is located on a depression with an area of more than 2,000 square kilometers, its center is the city of Bawiti, and it includes a large number of archaeological sites and evidence, and although it is in the heart of the desert, it is rich in enormous water wealth, and it has 400 springs of warm and cold mineral and sulfur water.
Among the most important monuments in Bahariya Oasis are the tombs of the Twenty-sixth Dynasty, the cemetery of sacred birds, the remains of the Roman Triumphal Arch, the ruins of the Temple of Isis, and the ruins of a temple dating back to the era of Alexander the Great. It also contains the cemetery of the Valley of the Golden Mummies.
A dinosaur skeleton was found in Bahariya Oasis in 1912 and preserved in the Munich Museum in Germany, but the museum was destroyed during World War II and most parts of the dinosaur were lost, and some photographs and drawings drawn by the German geologist "Strumer" remain. After that, he found several fossils of him in Marrakesh, Algeria and Niger, but he is called the Egyptian dinosaur.
The Bahariya Oasis region in Giza Governorate was declared a natural reserve by Decree No. 2656 of 2010 with an area of 109 km2 and includes three important areas: Al-Dust and Al-Mughrafa - Jabal Al-Ingliz (
