This famous scene shows the solar cat's power, which protects the light from darkness.

The scene is based on the 7th hour of the Am Duat, a book only the kings had (written) in their tombs., but the wisdom predates the written language.

Later, it became part of the (Pert em Heru) Book of coming forth by day. . .
The cat has stripes and long ears, and sits on its hind legs, facing west.

It holds a knife in its left front paw and uses it to slay a huge snake that it pins down with its right front paw.

The snake, which looks like a grass snake, has a split tongue and writhes under a persea tree full of red fruits. . .
This is the scene of the solar cat ("the Great Cat of Heliopolis"), who kills Apophis, the enemy of the sun, under the Persea (Ished Tree) of Heliopolis.

The scene illustrates a part of chapter 17 of the Book of the Dead:

"I am the cat who split the Iched Tree in Heliopolis the night when the enemies of the Master of the Universe were destroyed".

The Great Cat is a symbol and manifestation of the powerful solar rebirth as Khepri-Re.

He has to defeat the snake Apophis every night to ensure his rising in the East, where the horizon is not just a line, but a specific point where the star emerges, which matches the mythical gates of heaven near the Ished tree.

The cat's large ears and long tail resemble those of a donkey, indicating primal nature and its association with Seth stabbing the snake on the solar boat.

The twists of the serpent and the solar tree in the middle represent the hieroglyph that makes the word (Akhet) for Horizon."

This is the central strip where we see repeating images of the vulture Nekhbet, who is associated with the southern part of the Nile (Milkey Way), and motherly protection, and Wadjet the vulture with the serpentine head wearing the red crown.

We also see Behdity (the winged solar disk wearing the double crown to symbolize unified consciousness).

The astronomical ceiling in the outer hypostyle hall of the Hathor Temple at Dendera.

Four baboons greet and honor the rising sun.

The sun (which is not visible in the picture) is being dragged on its boat by the three jackals opening the path (known as The Justified).

The four baboons are standing in a position of reverence (Dua), waiting for the sun.

The caption above describes them as the Souls of the East revering the Neter.

There is nothing like gathering at the balcony to play a game of Senet with the family while overlooking the Pyramids and Sphinx.

It is an ancient game that has been played in Egypt for more than 6,000 years!

The last image shows queen Nefertari playing senet 5,100 years ago against her shadow.

The game has spiritual and symbolic meanings, representing the soul's journey to the next life.

According to the Book of Pert-M-Heru (Coming forth by day), one has to play senet against an invisible adversary to enter the realm of Osiris.

The game board also had symbols that related to the fate of the soul, such as water, goodness, and numbers which signified different stages of the journey.

Kheamiyya is the term we use to describe the people who apply appliqué textile art that originated in Egypt thousands of years ago.

It is derived from the word Khaiyma, meaning "tent", as the Kheamiyya were traditionally manufacturing and decorating tents and other shelters.
