What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is a special month for Muslim people. It has a special ritual and traditions ends with 4 days feast "Eid El-Adha".
What should you do or pay attention to?
As a tourist visiting Egypt in Ramadan, you have the right to enjoy your vacation normally and you are not requested to do anything special,. You can eat, drink, smoke and wear your swimming dress and enjoy swimming as normal, but just notice the following points:
-In this month Muslim people fast eating, drinking and smoking from Dawn till Dusk, and that makes them a bit tired and they might seem to be lazy until breakfast time (sunset), so just be a bit patient with them.
-Sunset is the time of breakfast for Muslim people, so most of the services would be paralyzed for a period of 15 minutes up to an hour. If you are requesting a service around sunset (room cleaning, room maintenance, exchange towel card, transportation or anything similar) put in your consideration that it might be delayed for a while until the staff comes back to work, so unless this service is urgent, it would be better to wait for after sunset.

What is the best currency to use for shopping and tipping in Egypt??? 🤔

Accepted foreign currencies in Egypt are:
1- American dollars.
2- Euros.
3- Sterling pounds (not Scottish).

Important note:
ATM in Egypt gives you only Egyptian pounds.

General advice:
1- You are strongly recommended to get as much CASH MONEY as possible and avoid using your credit card (with credit cards you will be charged much more).
2- Coins are not accepted in Egyptian banks, that's why people in Egypt don't like to be paid in coins and they try to get rid of the coins they have.
3- You can pay and tip in one of the above currencies OR you can exchange money into Egyptian pounds and use it for shopping and tipping.
4- you should be aware of the foreign currency exchange rate when you are paying with foreign currency or when you are exchanging money to Egyptian pounds.
5- Tipping the staff is never obligatory but it is recommended for those who work hard and do their jobs well.
6- How much to tip is completely up to your validation. You can tip starting from 1 Dollar or Euro according to the efforts and the good service.

At arrival in Hurghada airport you will find some Reps shouting at you to come over to them to buy Visas. It may look quicker but you will also be charged more.

Simply head to the big glass windowed Bank building. The Visa costs NOW 25 USD, you can pay in dollars, Euros or sterling pounds.
