A true gem in Esna, a house for charming historical scenes and inscriptions is no other than the Temple of Khnum.

The temple features piles of desert sand and debris that kept on accumulating one after another over the course of 1500 years when it was first deserted during the Roman period. The temple has its size in common with Dander and Edu and includes a main doorway meeting an atmospheric vestibule at the end of it with its roof propped against 18 columns.

The temple is all about interesting detail and stories, so don’t miss listening to them while being there!

In ancient Egyptian times, women were seen and honored as greater and holier than a man. The woman is the mother of all, giving life and teaching. The ancients believed that when a man gained a lot of knowledge, spirituality, and power, he would have the right to wear a long hair wig to symbolize that he had reached a certain level equal to a woman. As the two come together, she holds her man, giving him strength and protection. There is a saying that still floating around today behind every successful man is a strong woman holding him down.

Ty is one of the most influential women in ancient Egypt, the major royal wife (i.e. chief wife) of the pharaoh Amenhotep III. Her son Akhenaten, who succeeded his father, is remembered as the "heretical" pharaoh, who abolished all pre-existing deities to offer worship to the god Aten (the solar disk).
In 1898, Victor Loret, in the antechamber of the tomb of Amenhotep II, discovered three profane mummies, one of which particularly shocked him: the remains of a woman who, over thousands of years, surprisingly preserved the beauty of her face and long hair.
In 2010, DNA tests showed that the "old lady" discovered in KV35's tomb was Queen T.

Mormântul reginei Nefertari

QV66 este mormântul lui Nefertari, Marea Soție a Faraonului Ramses al II-lea, în Valea Reginelor din Egipt, in Luxor. A fost descoperită de Ernesto Schiaparelli (directorul Muzeului Egiptean din Torino) în 1904. Se numește Capela Sixtină a Egiptului Antic. Nefertari, care înseamnă „însoțitor frumos”, era soția preferată a lui Ramses al II-lea; el a făcut tot posibilul pentru a face acest lucru evident, referindu-se la ea drept „cea pentru care soarele strălucește” în scrierile sale, a construit Templul lui Hathor pentru a o idolatriza ca zeitate și a comandat picturi murale portretistice.
