For the fourth year in a row...

For the fourth year in a row, on the morning of October 21, our date is to see the sun’s rays rise again, perpendicular to the face of the statue of Ramses II, an occasion that continues to be celebrated at the Grand Egyptian Museum, in the great hall of the museum. Studies and experiments were conducted on this phenomenon in 2019, and the museum announced it to the public in 2020.

It is worth noting that after the official opening of the museum, an event will be held to celebrate the sun’s rays perpendicular to the face of King Ramses II. In order to work on more revitalization of local and international cultural tourism.

Over three thousand years ago, ancient Egyptians constructed the Great Temple of Abu Simbel aligning it so that the sun would shine on the statue of King Ramesses II on the same date every year in celebration of his coronation day.

At the Grand Egyptian Museum, our team of architects and archeologists has successfully replicated this phenomenon so that the sun shines on the face of the colossal statue of King Ramses Il at the Grand Hall on February 21st every year.

Ancient Egyptian art portrayed an idealized, unrealistic view of the world, except for the times of the Pharaoh Akhenaten.
The art served a wider and cosmic purpose of maintaining order but they had to make sure that all the art is perfect by maintaining the perfect proportions and splendid colours.

Looking at the decorations on the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs were created by the most artistic and creative people who existed on Earth at that time...
Seeing an illustration like this can give a behind-the-scenes feel. It isn’t often that you get to see the process of how these works of art were created!
Some of these artists’ grids have been found in tombs and on ostraca. That’s how we know a creative method...

The Egyptian artisans would use a ‘grid’ to measure the proportions and get a sense of scale. Then, they would fill in their designs with paint and rub off the overlaying grid.

These ancient masterpieces didn’t happen by accident or come into existence on a whim. They were meticulously thought out and created by ancient minds and ancient hands.

What happened during Akhenaten?!?
If you know tell me in the comments...

Canopic jars were used by the ancient Egyptians during the mummification process to store and preserve the viscera of their owner for the afterlife. These jars were used by the ancient Egyptians from the time of the Old Kingdom until the time of the Late Period or the Ptolemaic Period

The canopic jars were four in number, each for the safekeeping of particular human organs: the stomach, intestines, lungs, and liver, all of which, it was believed, would be needed in the afterlife. There was no jar for the heart: the Egyptians believed it to be the seat of the soul, and so it was left inside the body.

By the late Eighteenth Dynasty canopic jars had come to feature the four sons of Horus.
Each god was responsible for protecting a particular organ and was himself protected by a companion goddess. They were:

Hapi, the baboon-headed god representing the North, whose jar contained the lungs.

Duamutef, the jackal-headed god, whose jar contained the stomach.

Imsety, the human-headed god, whose jar contained the liver.

Qebehsenuef, the falcon-headed god, whose jar contained the intestines.

Khepri, one of the manifestations of the sun god in the form of a scarab beetle, Khepri means "he who came into being by himself."

Always, keen observers of nature, the ancient Egyptians noticed that scarab beetles rolled a ball of dung on the ground, from which their offspring emerged. This gave rise to the notion that beetles reproduced without the benefit of a mate.

Khepri, the scarab god, having been born from the womb of his mother, Nut, onto the eastern horizon, pushes the sun disk across the sky as he emerges from a night in the Underworld.

The Tomb Complex of Sennefer, Mayor of the Southern City". Thebes

Located in a prominent position on the southern hillside of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, close to several other tombs from the time of Amenhotep II (of the 18th Dynasty, about 14391413 B.C.). It is usually referred to as the "Tomb of Vines", because a large part of the ceiling of the burial (or coffin) chamber and all of that of its antechamber are decorated to give the impression of standing under an overhanging vine plant, hung with large bunches of grapes.

Habu Temple of Ramses III on the western bank in Luxor: Whoever wants to enjoy ancient Egyptian architecture, art, war battles, and scenes of celebrations for different deities.

Most of the architectural elements of this temple were built during the era of King Ramses III

That's one of the most interesting scenes where the military shows different high proficiency of fencing and their wrestling skills.

If you look into details you will see that the military is using the same swords that we use nowadays. :)

Thoth, God of writing and knowledge, symbolized by the ibis or the baboon. Both symbols are well known in Egypt's early history.

Some myths cast Thoth as the actual moon, and in others, he is the moon's guardian. When he is the actual moon, Thoth is frequently called "Lunar-Thoth." Thoth was associated with Khonsu, a moon god who was the son of Amun and Mut. When Thoth was not viewed as the moon itself, he was a protector of the moon.

One of Thoth's many titles was the"Measurer of Time,". In this capacity, Thoth was called the bringer of mathematics, astronomy, and magic.

Thoth was the great lord of magic, and his spells allowed Isis to bring her husband back to life. It was from Thoth that Is learned her magic, and it was Thoth's magical spell that brought the infant Horus back to life when he had been bitten by a scorpion.

Thoth was known as the scribe of the gods and was the patron of all scribes. As "lord of the sacred word," Thoth represented the embodiment of all knowledge, scientific and literary. He was the patron of the per ankh, "the house of life," where the sacred papyri were kept. Books of Divine Words or the Book of Thoth are mentioned in ancient inscriptions, and it is believed that they are a collection of "sacred spells" compiled by Thoth.

Today is the first of May!
Many countries in the world celebrate Labor Day today, and in some countries, it is a public holiday as in Egypt.

The Egyptian labor movement dates back to the abyss of history since the Nile Valley civilization that sanctified the work and the honor of the workers. The ancient Egyptians would not have had such achievements in the fields of architecture, engineering, agriculture, industry, mining, painting, and sculpture unless their movement is based on a strict and precise organization and fair principles governing the relations between the various social forces.

The ancient Egyptian community introduced the weekly holiday system, laborers’ rights on the basis of social solidarity far from contradiction and conflict, and defined the system of cities and laborers gatherings, as three labor cities were built about five thousand years ago.

Happy labor day...

This is a mummification table...
How did the ancient Egyptians get the idea of the afterlife?
1- They saw each day the sunrise and the sunset. They thought that the sun is born and dies each day.
2- They noticed the flooding and dwindling of the Nile.
3- They met their dead ones in their dreams.

What else could help them to think afterlife?

these niches that were pierced into the eastern walls of monks' cells. Monks used these niches as spaces in which to pray.

The third niche is very special as it shows one of the first presentations of the Virgin Mary hugging and breastfeeding the baby Jesus...

That idea was influenced by the ancient Egyptians artists who presented the Goddess Hathor breastfeeding the king as if it's hours the master of the two lands of Egypt.

“Sham El Nessim” is an Egyptian national holiday marking the beginning of Spring. The word itself literary means “Smelling the Zephyr”, and it is derived from the word “Shemu” Ancient Egyptians used to call the feast. The Sham El Nessim falls in the first day of the third and last season on the calendar used by Ancient Egyptians which was based on the 3 cycles of the Nile.

Ancient Egyptians believed that it marks the beginning of world creation; when “Ra” The Sun God sails with his boat in the skies and anchors on the top of the great Pyramid, a journey that symbolizes life and death. They made special preparations for the day, wearing their finest clothes and they went to temples holding flowers to present food to the gods. The feast was also celebrated with a special meal that consisted of colored eggs, Salted fish, onions and lettuce. This food symbolized the idea of creation of the world. Eggs refer to creation of life and Egyptians used to draw on eggs their wishes and prayers. As for onions, Ancient Egyptians believed that it keeps disease and evil spirits away, while they believed lettuce has a power in increasing fertility. Fish was in the daily diet of Ancient Egyptians since they glorified River Nile and they believed life on earth started in water, so Nile fish to them was symbolizing life and they used to eat salted fish in their important festivals.

That's the tomb of Ramses VI who usurped KV9, a tomb in the Valley of the Kings planned by and for Ramesses V and had it enlarged and redecorated for himself. The craftsmen's huts near the entrance of KV9 covered up the entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb, saving it from a wave of tomb robberies that occurred within 20 years of Ramesses VI's death. Ramesses VI may have planned and made six more tombs in the Valley of the Queens.

Akhenaten was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, who ruled for 17 years and died perhaps in 1336 BC or 1334 BC. He is noted for abandoning traditional Egyptian polytheism.
Akhenaten tried to shift his culture from Egypt's traditional religion to be the first to introduce monotheism to the only God Aten.
but these shifts were not widely accepted. After his death, his monuments were dismantled and hidden, his statues were destroyed, and his name excluded from the king lists, just like any prophet...

The burial chamber of Beni Hassan are carved into some ‎limestone hills on the East Bank of the Nile. They are situated about 20 Kilometers south of Al Minya.

‎This necropolis belonged to the military ‎leaders and local rulers who chose to be buried in their provinces because of their ‎growing power and independence rather than being buried near their kings in ‎Saqqara.‎

These are the walls of the tomb of Amenemhat. The main room is richly painted with scenes of wrestling and all the martial arts instructions.

In love of the details of the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Barquq. It was commissioned by Sultan al-Zahir Barquq as a school for religious education in the four Islamic schools of thought, composed of a mosque, madrassa, mausoleum, and khanqah.

The complex was constructed in 1384-1386 CE (786 to 788 AH), It was the first architectural facility built during the time of the Circassian (Burji) dynasty of Mamluk Sultanate.

This the view from the 15th-century seafront Qaitbay Citadel in Alexandria, Pearl of the Mediterranean.

During the Hellenistic period, it was home to a lighthouse ranking among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as well as a storied library.

Today the library is reincarnated in the disc-shaped, ultramodern Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The city also has Greco-Roman landmarks, old-world cafes and sandy beaches.

The Temple of Edfu is an Egyptian temple located on the west bank of the Nile in Edfu, Upper Egypt.

The temple was built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237 and 57 BC. The inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Hellenistic period in Egypt.

The temple of Edfu is the largest temple dedicated to Horus and Hathor of Dendera.
It was the center of several festivals sacred to Horus.
Each year, "Hathor travelled south from her temple at Denderah to visit Horus at Edfu, and this event marking their sacred marriage was the occasion of a great festival and pilgrimage.

These are hieroglyphics from the pyramid of King Teti from the 6th dynasty.

A hieroglyph (Greek for "sacred carvings") was a character of the ancient Egyptian writing system.

Each picture served three functions:
to represent the image of a thing or action.
to stand for the sound of a syllable.
to clarify the precise meaning of adjoining glyphs. Writing hieroglyphs required some artistic skill, limiting the number chosen to learn it, only those privileged with an extensive education (i.e. the Pharaoh and priests) were able to read and write hieroglyphs.

Sometimes even the pharaoh couldn't read and write as the hieroglyphics were sacred writing whatever is written or drawn can make it to the afterlife.

Largely built by the New Kingdom Kings Amenhotep III (1390–1352 BC) and Ramses II (1279–1213 BC), this temple is a strikingly graceful monument in the heart of the modern town of Luxor.

Luxor temple was dedicated to the rejuvenation of kingship; it may have been the place where many of the kings of Egypt were crowned in reality or conceptually.

The temple was known as the southern residence (or the Harim) of the state deity Amun-re during the new Kingdom.

Aside from being a temple for the cult of this sun god, it was the place where the god used to visit his consort Mut during the Opet festival, marking this annual great celebration. Then, the statues of the Theban Triad Amun-re, Mut and Khonsu were brought from Karnak, along the avenue of Sphinxes.

The first pylon was flanked by two huge pink granite obelisks. Only one remains standing, while the other one was offered to France in 1836 by Mohamed Ali, Egypt’s ruler during these times. in exchange, Egypt was presented with a tower clock still erected to this day in the open court of Muhammad Ali’s mosque in the citadel. This obelisk now stands in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

The Colossus of Ramesses is an enormous statue carved in limestone. It is about 10m (33.8 ft) long, even though it has no feet, and is located near the village of Mit Rahina.

The fallen colossus was found near the south gate of the temple of Ptah, located about 30m from the huge limestone statue of Ramesses.

Unlike so many works on a herculean scale, this Ramesses allowed for no imprecision in areas the sculptors knew could not be seen. The hidden places were equally finely finished.

Looking at the supreme craftsmanship, it was clear to me that all involved in making this image had the integrity and wisdom worthy of the god the great king was meant to represent.

The game overall delivers an awesome experience especially the discovery tour.

That the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut was designed to tell the story of her life and reign and surpass any other in elegance and grandeur.

The temple was designed by Hatshepsut’s steward and confidante Senenmut, who was also tutor to Neferu-Ra and, possibly, Hatshepsut’s lover.

What's really impressive about the design that it's a bit futuristic by our standards right now although it was made 1479-1458 BCE!
