Finland continues to be my most sold destination this Winter and I had a family away for New Year in Rovaniemi.

They booked last minute and all the traditional Arctic packages were sold out. We took a chance on booking a tailor made lapland trip with flights plus the last available standalone log cabin I could find. With 3 young kids in tow I was hoping it would work out well and that they would find it easy enough without all the activities included in advance 🛷

The chalet hosts were most helpful with arranging transfers and experiences, plus the all important thermal suits and boots 🥾

I was delighted to receive this photo and feedback on the cabin which they rated as 8/10! Which I will take as a win. They had a fantastic and memorable break in the snow ⛄️

Sometimes you just gotta wing it!

“It was a really clean, well organised chalet. It’s about 10-15 min drive from the centre of rovaniemi. This meant we did spent quite a lot on taxis back and forth, but I wouldn’t have wanted to hire a car and drive on those snowy roads!
The distance from the town meant it was very peaceful, and the kids had lots of space to sledge, build snowmen, throw snowballs etc!
It also meant less light pollution, so better for seeing the northern lights!
The sauna was lovely, the kitchen small but had everything we needed. Everything was very clean. My only complaint was that maybe we could have done with a few more pillows!”

Starting 1st January 2025, Vietnam has joined Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia and Laos in illegalising va**ng. This includes:
- Producing, selling, and importing e-cigarettes
- Storing, transporting, and using e-cigarettes

This ban applies to both locals and visitors. Anyone who doesn’t follow these rules could face confiscation of devices, fines or other penalties.

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip, it’s advised not to bring or use any va**ng devices during your stay.

This is Santorini 💙

Situated in the middle of the island in a traditional village called Megalochori, I had overlooked this hotel in the past thinking it wasn’t near the sea…. but - big mistake, BIG…. HUGE

It’s much bigger than I expected with so many hidden areas, it’s family friendly, with insane views of the winery and Aegean Sea beyond…

It has a helipad ✅

A choice of pools for your mood, plus top level dining, but also with traditional Greek tavernas right outside the doorstep. There are villas for all budgets but our fave was actually the entry level room, for as little as €400 a night in low season.

Their top villa is a 5 bedroom private property 5 mins away, recently used by Beyonce and family. With use of a driver and vehicle, concierge, additional services like a chef and catamaran: this would be the ultimate big birthday celebration.

I must also mention a row of 4 villas with private pools and jacuzzis which can interconnect by the garden gates, enabling families or groups of friends to holiday together….

This is…. Santorini.

Located on dramatic black sand in Perivolos. A 12 room boutique hotel converted from stables, retaining some amazing original features… but so modern, and so stylish.

This hotel would be perfect for a couple, single person or small group of friends who want to completely zone out. It’s quiet, tranquil, but there are beach clubs out the front.
