We spent three unforgettable days trekking through the majestic high mountains region of Saint Catherine!

Hiked Jabal El Banat, Naqb El Hawa, Wadi Itlah & Wadi Jebal. ✨ Explored the abandoned El Nabatya Village.

But beyond the stunning scenery, the true highlight was connecting with the Bedouins. Their rich culture, captivating tales, and deep knowledge of desert life filled our hearts with wonder.

The oasis is surrounded with palm trees, which are the basis of the old folk tale. The story of the famous oasis goes years and years back, when a tired traveller went to rest by the oasis, and had visions of a phantom lady, who gave him an ominous warning about the land. The tale has been passed down by generations of the Bedouins.

Bedouin tracker is a very old job in bedouins & tribal life, tracker can track whomever walking in the desert, he can tell a lot of information by observing the environment around him!!

Footprints:
--------------
Bedouins can tell how many people walked from this path, and were they healthy or struggling, running or walking normally! They can also identify how many camels & sheeps they had and also can tell their ages!

But how?

Actually bedouins identify this from the size of the foot print, if it is big, it is a man, if it is a little smaller, then it is a woman, if it is very small then it is a child, And they count the number of footprints. To know how many people were together. Then they look if the footprint was deep in sand or shallow. If deep, it means that person was walking very slow, if they saw knee-prints it means the man was struggling. Shallow means he was running! So his footprint wasn’t carved enough in sand.

You can tell if they camped there by campfire traces, their urine and other things!

Tracking is the art of pursuing someone (human/animal/object) across the landscape! And bedouins mastered this a long time ago!

Hike & Seek is a hiking game designed by Jabal to help you to know more about yourself and the universe!! we are going to hike through wadi degla protectorate trail, at each stop point, one person will pick up a question from the questions card and asked it to the group, and they've to answer within only 5 minutes. Most of the questions will be asked for the entire group, and some of them will be asked for the person who picked the card!

* The whole group can skip 1 question only! (the majority must vote to skip)

* You will be asked about 20‐30 questions during the hike.. Imagine what these questions can change in you? What you will learn from others, nature & yourself?

"Rujum"

Rujum is an Arabic word that means “Rocks”, Arab used to put Rujum on graves & Wells to mark them. Also they used to put it on the trails; as a mark that this trail is good for walking and doesn’t have a dead end.

While hiking in Sinai, always look for the Rujum, which means that this is the best trail to hike, also it is a life saver if hikers can’t determine which way to walk or if the vision is not clear.

How can I identify them?

Rujum is a vertical stacking of rocks added at the beginning & on the trail; and it’s very useful while trekking, as while trekking you don’t have a specific trail to follow.
