Centuries and centuries ago a magnificent dragon appeared in the Vila of Montblanc. This powerful dragon caused chaos in the Vila since he could walk, swim and fly… 🐉 The dragon, decided to stay and ended up being one of the biggest threats of Montblanc as he ate all of the animals and was getting more and more hungry. 🐑 After the desperate king tried sending his best soldiers who failed in the attempt of killing the dragon, for the safety of the people of Montblanc, they decided to came to an agreement. 👑 They organized a raffle, put their names all in a bowl. Then they drew one name each morning to make an offer to the beast. One day the name that was revealed, was the daughter of the king. As she went towards the dragon, she met a knight (Saint George) in a shiny armor who offered going together to face the beast. Once they reached towards the dragon, they fought a brutal battle as the princess watched in fear. The knight used his strength to throw his spear, to defeat the fire-throwing dragon. Once the dragon was defeated, from all his blood blossomed roses, he chose the prettiest rose and offered it to the princess. 🌹🌺 Since then, this story became a legend and every year on the 23th of April, Barcelona is packed with roses and books. 📚 From all of us at Barcelona Guide Bureau, Happy Saint George – Feliç Sant Jordi 📚🌹🐉🥰 Hope you enjoy our version to this legend 😛
