Heian Maru was a Japanese ocean liner launched in 1930 that was requisitioned in 1941 and converted to military use as a submarine tender.
On 18 February 1944 it was sunk by American aerial attacks in Truk Lagoon, Micronesia during Operation Hailstone.
Lying on its port side, Heian Maru has become an attractive dive site, revealing stockpiles of submarine periscopes and numerous interesting artefacts.
