Swimming with wild bottlenose dolphins... it's often the main reason people come on our Conscious Unity retreat. Sitting quietly at the waterhole hide.... and then this happens... it's utterly magical to watch the elephants come in to drink and use the mud baths. There's always jostling between the young ones and the hierarchy becomes clear as the older ones claim the sweet water of the borehole!

These amazing dung beetles have complete right of way throughout the whole reserve as they are key to the whole ecosystem in the bush. Our vehicles drive around them and it's fascinating to watch them at work, enjoying the numerous fresh deposits from the elephants!

Delicious 3 course evening meals at Tembe Lodge are enjoyed under the gorgeous traditional thatch roof with the stars shining out above us. Tembe is an intimate community owned lodge and with only a small number of cabins, we are welcomed in as part of the 'family' for our stay. It's never easy to leave!

It is the most incredible experience when a wild dolphin choses to come close, swim around, interact and play with us while we are in the water. You can feel their sonar, you can hear their squeals and they literally turn on their side to look at you. It's utterly life changing and it's not unusual for emotional tears of exhilaration to be shed. And we are there to support you all the way.

Launching out to the ocean for a scuba dive… is just as much fun as the dive itself! Three of our intrepid travellers who came out here early, did their refresher this morning and then off they went to Parasise, one of the unspoilt reefs along this coastline. Contributing back to the local community is something that’s an important part of our Conscious Unity retreat… and today we took the wonderful collection of pens, crayons, pencils and all sorts of stationery that our guests gifted to the local primary school. It was so moving and fulfilling to see the kids so delighted with their new gifts. Their teacher is an absolute gem and he along with the other two teachers run Morning and afternoon programmes to make sure all the local children have access to education. Halo Gaia Adventure Travel has also been leading the eco-bricks project where rubbish is pushed into discarded plastic bottles to use as bricks…. Genius! And… they also fund raised to have toilets and running water installed… it has transformed these kids experience of school! Thank you to all our Conscious Unity guests who contributed to this special little primary school…
