Top beaches in Mazarrón

📍 The town of Mazarrón is located in a wide bay open to the Mediterranean, with 35 km of coastline. 🏖 It has two important urban centres: the port and the capital of the municipality, 5 km from the coast. 🌊

𝟏. 𝐁𝐚𝐡í𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐫ó𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
Playa De Bahía is a very busy urban beach with a fine golden sandy beach with calm waters. It is 190 m long and 21 m wide. It is a shell-shaped beach, facing south and with a sandy seabed that gradually increases in depth, with no surprises. Its facilities include a kiosk, restaurants and accommodation. Located next to the marina, it is not surprising that its occupancy rate is high.

𝟐. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
Percheles Beach is located in the coastal town of Mazarrón in the Region of Murcia and is a little piece of unspoilt coastline between the border of Mazarrón and Lorca. The beach is part of the hamlet of Cañada de Gallego known for its tomatoes. Percheles is situated between the parks of Puntas de Calnegre and Sierra de las Moreras, where there are many routes to discover this great coastline of the Costa Cálida.

𝟑. 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
Bolnuevo Beach is a semi-urban beach located in the municipality of Mazarrón, part of the Costa Cálida in the province of Murcia. Specifically, it is located at the foot of the Sierra de las Moreras mountain range in the old fishing village of Bolnuevo, which year after year continues to increase its urban area dedicated almost entirely to the tourist sector.

𝟒. 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
The small beach of Nares is located on the road from the beach of Mazarrón to Bolnuevo and belongs to the quieter beaches of the coastal town of Mazzáron. It is easy to find, because it borders directly on the road, where there is also a small beach bar. Here you can park your car and walk directly to the beach with a towel and an umbrella. Playa de Nares does not offer any water sports if you want to be more active. The beach is therefore something for nature lovers. In front of the Chiringuito there are umbrellas and you can rent a proper sofa, to avoid the burning sun, which heats everything here from May until summer.

𝟓. 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
Playa del Alamillo is a Blue Flag beach. With cool, calm waters, it has little sand and pebbles on its shore, which are beautiful to look at, but uncomfortable to walk on. This makes it a very quiet beach with no crowds. This beach has a wide range of services and its level of occupation is average in summer, due to its proximity to the road that surrounds it.

𝟔. 𝐋𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
400 metres of sand are enough metres for everyone to want to go to the largest of the beaches surrounding Puerto de Mazarrón. An urban beach without a seaport, but with a multitude of services such as water skate hire, sailing hire, windsurfing, disabled and bicycle parking, toilets, selective collection containers, footbaths, litter bins, walkways, ramps, restaurants, changing rooms and a children's play area.

𝟕. 𝐋𝐚 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
Urban beach. With bus stop, Mazarrón-Murcia line. It has a lifeguard service in summer. Amphibious wheelchair available. It has a beach bar, sun lounger hire and beach library. La Isla is located about 300 metres from the current coast and in front of it, on the north side, there is a small beach with anchorage.

𝟖. 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 🏖
This long sandy beach lies to the west of Mazarrón and is quickly overlooked if you drive too fast into town on the coastal avenue Avenida del Castellar. Locals park their car here on the road and walk the rest. Playa del Castellar offers a perfect service with sun loungers, umbrellas, wooden walkways on the sand, showers, free toilets and has rightly been awarded the Blue Flag as a bonus.

The Mazarron Guns....part 2

The Mazarron Guns..This trip can be taken by either car or bicycle for cycling enthusiasts. Take the road for Cartagena from Puerto de Mazarron, as you approach the filling station turn right towards Isla Plana. Keep going until you reach the turning for La Azohía - the road is a very pleasant costal drive and passes some nice bays and beaches. Pass the turning for La Azohía and the road gently inclines. stay on this road until you see a turning on the right to Campillo de Adentro, take this road.

Campillo de Adentro lies in the hollow of a pretty valley surrounded by mountains. There are a few houses and farms but little else. Pass through the village and eventually you will come to the start of a military road with warning signs forbidding passage. Ignore these, they haven't been removed since the military abandoned the zone a few years ago. For the next 7 km the narrow road twists it's way upwards through the mountains, giving breathtaking views of the coastline and countryside. This is where driver caution is particularly important as this has become quite a popular place in recent years, the road is very narrow and it is tight for cars to pass safely.

Near the summit there is a left turn which takes you to the Guns, if you continue straight on then you'll get to a TV mast which has the same fine views as from the Guns, but nothing else. The Guns are approximately another 2 km from this turning.

This is a place which is certain to interest military historians, or simply those who fancy seeing something a little different. The main attractions are the two massive guns at Castillitos with their associated sighting points and control rooms. Although military architecture is often ugly, here the Battery has been built into the mountainside in the style of a castle using local stone. There are some smaller guns further along the road at Jorel which are also quite large but seem small in comparison to the guns at Castillitos. Finaly there is an abandoned AA battery at Atalayon which is the peak you first encounter on reaching the batteries. These massive batteries were part of the shore defenses for Cartagena, which is the headquarters of the Spanish Mediterranean Fleet, and often has visiting warships from other countries, including the USA.

It isn't known if these guns were ever fired in anger, although presumably some rounds must have been fired for commissioning purposes or for training exercises.

This outing would take about half a day to complete, you could visit one of the bars or resturants on the La Azohia road you passed earlier for refreshments on your return journey

Today the Spanish government have allowed children out with a parent to exercise for 1 hour. A bear hunt has been arranged on Camposol for the children with approx 200 villas putting cuddly toys in their windows, on their gates & walls and on the sun terraces for the children to find. Villa Shalama is lucky that Super Rabbit has flown in for this event.

Villa Shalama is a beautiful detached villa located on the outskirts of sector D of Camposol Urbanization, Mazarron. Its position provides outstanding panoramic views of both the Urbanisation and the mountainside. The villa has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and sleeps 6. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor that are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with all usual appliances including microwave, coffee maker and dishwasher. To the side of the villa are stairs that lead to a further ensuite bedroom with access to the large roof terrace, this also has aircon & a ceiling fan. Parking is available at the front of the villa.

Outside there is a shaded, seated area which leads down to the pool and outside kitchen. An ideal way to spend your days & evenings enjoying the spanish sun & evenings socialising with family & friends.

Camposol is divided into 4 sectors A, B, C & D. It has two commercial centers on A & B with a supermarket, various shops, dentist, veterinarian, hairdresser, optician, bank, post office, Gym, bars and a variety of great restaurants including 2 Indian's, Chinese, English, Italian, Bulgarian, an American diner, Fast food (which serves pizza, hamburgers) and a fish & chip shop.There is also a medical center and a pharmacy. Camposol also offers numerous different fun events with live music through out the year & during peak summer months sectors A & B host speciality acts outside. Sectors A & B are a 30-40 minute walk from the villa and 5-10 minute car ride. A bus is available if preferred but membership is required. Please contact Shirley for details.
Sector C is home to an 18 hole golf course which has a Club house with a bar / sun terrace and a great restaurant whose speciality is their buffet Sunday lunch. The Golf club also hosts entertainment on set nights one of which is on a Thursday - Open Mike night. The Golf club is approx 10-15 minutes walk from Villa Shalama or no more than 5 minutes by car.

The popular and pleasant Puerto de Mazarron and Bolnuevo are within a 15 to 20 min drive. Puerto de Mazarron has miles of sandy beaches with blue flag awards for cleanliness, excellent amenities including several large well-known supermarkets Lidl, Aldi, Tesco's, Mercadona, banks, a medical center, shops, a beautiful marina surrounded by excellent bars and restaurants that serve a mix of culinary delights!
Here you will also find the nicest and largest Sunday market in the Murcia region.
The international airport of Murcia (Corvera) is approximately 40 minutes drive and Alicante 1 hour and 15 minutes. Although a coach runs at certain times from Corvera -car hire is recommended.

In the area you will find a number of sights including the Mines of Mazarron, the Cannons of Mazarron, Bolineuvo Sand Sculptures, the hot springs that come directly from the mountains and the cultural cities of Murcia and Cartagena are too well worth a visit.

The villa is available to rent in its entirety (min of 1 weeks rental) or alternatively the upstairs guest ensuite bedroom with its own seperate sun terrace is available for 2 adults for between 40 Euros up to 50 Euros in peak season per night.
