Went on the "Recuperando a Hemingway" tour in Pamplona, tracing the route Papa H followed on his numerous visits to the city. He was a larger-than-life character who, as recommended by Gertrude Stein, first set foot in Pamplona on 6 July 1923, accompanied by his first wife who was pregnant. He was enthralled by the place, bullfighting, wine and the food (his favourite dish was ajoarriero) and went back every year till 1931, bringing with him American cultural giants like Man Ray, Josephine Baker, Cole Porter and others. He left such a lasting legacy in the city!
