“I’m a big believer in winging it.
I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one.
Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary.”

A few weeks ago we went to check a new hotel for our Path of Kindness and we randomly found this little jewel, owned by Ementerio. He not only knows a lot about wines and food: he's the proud owner of his Father's legacy, welcoming everyone with open arms and sharing the story behind every product he sells. We had a great time with him and, obviously, we have new wines and smoked hams and chorizos to try with our friends!!

Yesterday, we stayed at the first hotel built in Peso da Régua, on the UNESCO Heritage Protected Douro Wine Region!
These project was taken by a woman, from here, that believed that the Heritage, the historical importance and the values that this building carried were extremely important to maintain. So, from a ruin she "rebuilt" it, maintaining everything that it was possible to and added her personal touch and we loved it. She, her Family and her team did an outstanding job because each corner has a story to tell and one can feel the love in each detail.
Thank you very much for your welcoming and hospitality!!!

each one is changed by the other

Today, we crossed the border from Spain to Portugal walking, that is, as simultaneously, the Via Dalmacia and Path of St Francis. St Francis founded a Convent is Ciudad Rodrigo and he crossed this same caminos centuries ago. Although, a lot has changed, we are all seekers of our best version, building and creating ourselves every day and having examples such as St Francis, certainly helps.

Ultreia y Suseia was the way that we found to keep on sharing the legacy left by our ancestors with others and, simultaneously, gave us a highest understanding and meaning to our life. Those of you who have walked with us in the past know that the only thing we can offer you is the best we got. That's why we try to find accommodations that are much more than a room and a bed, and help our Pilgrim to be completely immersed in the culture, traditions and values of each place we visit. This one is a good example, built in the first quarter of the 14th century.

Today, on our path, we found a flooded part that was a challenging moment. As we were looking for an alternative way of crossing, this pickup stopped. It was the owner of terrain that we had to "trespass" that, understanding what we were doing, immediately offered himself to carry us on his car to the other side. As.we thanked him and invited him and his Family to meet us the next time they visit Santiago, we found out that his name is Angel!!
May we all keep on finding angels on our life and our Pilgrims on the https://www.ultreiaysuseia.com/guided-caminos/guided-pilgrimage-easter-camino/
During the winter we love to pick up our backpack and, as a simple pilgrim, double check the markings and the places where we stay and eat.
Yesterday, we entered a church to get their stamp and we heard a beautiful choir, in a room nearby. We asked permission to listen to their rehearsal and we were blessed with this moment. Obviously, we had to thank them for their kindness and generosity and the most precious gift I had, was the shell that you can see on the video, that was offered by a dear Pilgrim from Mexico, the day before.
We gave it to the teacher and we hope that this beautiful symbol and Santiago protect all of them and keep on filling their hearts with health, love and joy!!
