Miscanthus sinensis (tall grass) makes such an impact in our garden and needs very little maintenance. But today, we chop it all down to ground level so it can regrow its majestic 2.5 metre high fronds for later this year.

El Miscanthus sinensis (hierba alta) causa un gran impacto en nuestro jardín y necesita muy poco mantenimiento. Pero hoy lo cortamos todo hasta el suelo para que pueda volver a crecer sus majestuosas hojas de 2,5 metros de altura para más adelante este año.

Some colours in our garden on this last day of 2024. They'll still be here tomorrow, and as the new year unfolds so will the sequence of colours that reveal themselves every year. What we don't know is what else the new year will bring for us all, let's hope it's good.

Some yummy Christmas leftovers for breakfast. Sausage meat stuffing with mozzarella cheese on a batter 'Yorkshire Pudding' style base. This will set us up well for a walk.

Algunas sobras deliciosas de Navidad para desayunar. Relleno de salchicha con queso mozzarella sobre una base de masa al estilo "Yorkshire Pudding". Esto nos preparará bien para una caminata.

We had a very interesting visit to the replica of the 16th century Nao Victoria ship, currently moored in Málaga. The original of this ship was the only one that returned from the first ever marine circumnavigation of the globe, an expedition led by Magellan - who did not return. Worth going to see if you are in Málaga.

Tuvimos una visita muy interesante a la réplica de la Nao Victoria del siglo XVI, actualmente atracada en Málaga. El original de esta nave fue la única que regresó de la primera circunnavegación marítima del globo, una expedición liderada por Magallanes, que no regresó. Merece la pena ir a verla si estás en Málaga.

Many of the streams in our local area have a heavy iron content which results in a colouration of everything it touches, including the dogs. This stream that we pass each day on our morning walk looks so good that you could eat the caramel coloured rock. Not advised. Tidying up the garden.

A little bit of fun in the garden. This fish is connected by hose to our reservoir. When the pond needs to be refilled, we turn on the fish and out comes water. Magic! Un poco de diversión en el jardín. Este pez está conectado con una manguera a nuestra alberca. Cuando hay que rellenar el estanque, encendemos el pez y sale agua. Another of our holiday rental apartments here, this one is called Opazo Jardin. Its secluded patio leads on to a terrace with great views of the garden and the mountains beyond. Our two apartments are quite private and have their own designated outdoor areas, but can be rented together for a fabulous holiday for two couples - who don't want to share everything.
