Casa Abuelo ("House of my Grandfather") is our beautiful Canarian home from home, situated in the highly desirable Los Calamares area of Playa Blanca, just a few minutes walk from the village centre with it's shops, restaurants and beach. Casa Abuelo has been undergoing a sympathetic extension and re-build programme since we purchased it in October 2012. The bedrooms consist of a master suite with
a super-king 3,000 pocket spring four poster bed, dressing area, luxurious en-suite with huge walk-in shower and patio doors to it's own south-facing patio area. Bedroom 2 is another suite which is set off of it's own private corridor, making it ideal for another couple or perhaps grandparents. This room has a king-size bed (3,000 pocket springs with a beautiful wooden surround), fitted wardrobes, patio doors to the garden and en-suite with large walk in shower. The remaining two bedrooms are both twin room which share the family bathroom. Bedrooms 3 and 4 both have private patio doors leading to the secluded south-facing back garden. The villa's living space is laid out as an open plan sitting room leading through into a huge kitchen with folding glass doors opening down the entire room length to give access to the large outside dining area, BBQ and swimming pool terraces. The kitchen has all the extras you could wish for to make your stay comfortable - dishwasher, washing machine, oven, induction hob, American fridge/freezer and microwave. The living room has a 42" flat-screen TV with SKY, DVD player, CD player and comfortable sofas. There are two dining areas - one in the kitchen and the other on the large patio in front of the kitchen, protected from the sun by a hand-carved wooden pergola which wraps around the whole of the villa to help keep the inside cool on even the hottest of days. The villa also has air-conditioning in all of the bedrooms - a must in the hot summer months. The villa also has Wifi available free of charge. From the private off-road parking area a door leads through into the secluded front garden. The front garden has a few beautiful mature trees between which the stunning swimming pool is situated. The pool is approached down shallow curving steps and measures a generous ? meters and is ? metres deep. To the south is a smaller children's pool, fed from the main pool, which measures ? cm in depth - so ideal for when your small person wants to play in the water but you don't! Both pools are solar heated and can be electrically heated during the cooler winter months (included November-March, other months an extra charge applies). There is a large whirlpool bath adjacent to the pool too, ideal for sitting with a glass of wine and gazing at the stars once the children are in bed! A low wall with gate divides the villa from the pool, meaning that small children are kept safe (although children should be supervised by an adult at all times). The rear garden is accessed through the side gate and can be kept entirely closed off from the pool, making a safe haven for children to play. The rear garden can also be accessed from bedrooms 2, 3 and 4. Los Calamares is a quiet, mature residential area situated just a few minutes walk from the main village centre. It is truly an enviable location and we have never found anywhere more perfectly placed for a relaxing holiday. The nearest supermarket is a 5 minute walk, and there is a wide choice of superb restaurants along the sea front, which is also only a 5 minute walk away.
