5 interesting facts about penguins 🐾
- Penguins are flightless birds native to the Southern Hemisphere, with most species residing in Antarctica 🌎
- There are 18 species of penguins, ranging in size from the Little Penguin, which is just 16 inches tall, to the Emperor Penguin, which can reach up to 4 feet tall 🐧
- Penguins are excellent swimmers and can reach speeds of up to 15 miles per hour in the water. They use their flippers to propel themselves and their tails to steer 🌊
- During mating season, male Emperor Penguins huddle together to withstand the harsh Antarctic weather while incubating the eggs on their feet 🤗
- Some species of penguins have been known to live for over 20 years in the wild and have strong social bonds, often forming long-term pair bonds with a single mate ❤️

The expedition leaders of Le Commandant Charcot have been testing unprecedented experiences that will be offered to the farthest reaches of both Poles. They have taken up residence in the French Alps to check out all the aspects and ensure your safety. An essential step in the preparation of these cruises in the heart of previously inaccessible areas.
Height 9.2 metres, width 3.12 metres… These are the dimensions of the remarkable digital art piece displayed on Deck 5 of Le Commandant Charcot. Titled 'Oscillations', this masterpiece by French artist Miguel Chevalier adds a completely unique decorative element to our ship. Inspired by the way glaciers form, the piece changes and evolves to the vibrations of the music of French composer Michel Redolfi, whose works are based on the deep underwater sounds of the seas and oceans.
Our ship Le Commandant Charcot's design was the result of a long reflection between our teams and our naval architecture firm SDI. Now that her construction is complete, she is ready to reveal some unsuspected places in the Arctic and Antarctica.
