After 3 years I could ski again on the Dolomites :) 2022 is about to finish leaving a good taste in my mouth: the successful inauguration of At the Foot of the Dolomites tour. The first edition of "At the Foot of the Dolomites" tour is officially over. It is time now to start making a balance of it, understanding what could be improved, changed, etc. In oreder to make the following editions extraordinary because I have no doubts not that this journey has started...But before tackling this very important task, I just want to enjoy a little bit more all the beautiful emotions that the experience brought to me. I want to mention at least these ones: the pleasure of sharing with other people the beauty of the places where I grew up and spent my childhood and adolesence, the opportunity of discovering new hidden corners of the Val Belluna territory and, last but not least and the joy of meeting old and new friends. All this wouldn't have been possible without the support and advice of many people. Thank you so much to all of them, starting from my family an continuing with a long list. Let me mention at least a few in a totally random order: We will see you again in 2023! ❤❤❤

Day 8, Valdobbiadene hike & Prosecco expirience. After say goodbye to Feltre, we reached the hilly area of Valdobbiadene, home of the Prosecco wine and recently added to the UNESCO heritage list. Couldn't avoid to close the experience with a delicious wine tasting at Varaschin winery house. #

Day 6: Valmorel hike,16 Km. Today we had a lighter hike in the area of Valmorel, characterised by the mix of extended meadows surrounded by woods. The whole area is a privileged place to admire the skyline of the Dolomites in the background and one of the most suitable places for mushrooms. #

Day 5: Belluno nightlife!!! After 4 days been mainly surrounded by green forests and meadows, where the scarse human presence is overwhelmed by the animal one, we made a night "escape" to Belluno, taking advantage of the traditional "special Thursday street party". This is when the province capital every Thursday night of July and August shops remain open till late and street life is animated by several live concerts sponsored by bars and restaurants. Definitely, the best time to be in town for a nice stroll and a spritz of one of the several and beautiful squares of Belluno...

Day 5: murales of Coi de Pera. Coi de Pera means hills of stone. Here there is abundance of a particular type of calcareous stone very suitable for the construction and widely employed in the vernacular arquitrcture. Villages of Coi de Pera are embellished by several graffiti made over the years by local and abroad artists. We owe a lot to Iris Bernard and Agostino Verzi. Back in the 80' this couple of artists settled in were the creators of the local festival "Arte nell'ambiente". During summer, local and internacional artists were invited to create and expose there masterpieces in the streets and square of the villages. Over the years, this contributed to create a special awareness about the beauty of the place among its inhabitants. Still nowadays this is reflected in the way that any locals look after there gardens and embellish the facade of their houses. Personally, I love this place of my childhood... #

Day 5: Coi de Pera loop. Today we went for walk that connects the picturesque villages of Coi de Pera area: Cugnan, Losego, Quantin, Roncan...all of them are decorated with the graffiti made over the years by local and international artists. We concluded the hike with a picnic by the refreshing waters of Cornolade's little falls. We didn't lose the chance to stick our feet in it... #

Day 4: Nevegal - Col Visentin loop, 16Km. The Col Visentin it is not a very high mountain (1764 m. Above sea level), but it's located in a strategic position halfway between the Dolomites in the north and the plateau of the Pianura Padana in the south. Its relatively "flat" summit makes it easy to be walk and enjoy the amazing views on the surrounding landscape. footofthedolomitestour #

Day 2: Val Salatis hike. We took up on this typical alpine valley immersed in its silent green. This natural balcony offers beautiful views of the Valbelluna and the close lake of Santa Croce. #

Happiness is often about semplicity. Like having a nice salad made with the tomatos that you mother collected for you from her garden, together with a piece of local cheese, a few home eggs and -why not? A splash of red wine. Let's keep life simple and tasty, just like my mother's veggies! ☺☺

Day 1: Cansiglio loop, 16Km walk through meadows and imponent trees. The Cansiglio area is a natural plateau surrounded by a dense forest of pine and beech trees. Under the Venetian Republic the place was extremely valuable for its production of quality wood, necessary for the powerful navy industry of Venice. Nowadays it's literally a corner of paradise that you can't miss to visit...
