Judith Pérez Rodríguez (From September 2024 to date).

MA in Bilingual Education.

"Hi! I’m Judith. I graduated in 2023 in Primary Education Teaching, specialising in teaching English as a second language from the University of Alicante. I have been an English language enthusiast since I was very young, but this passion was consolidated when I did an Erasmus+ in Trondheim, Norway, where I was able to put my skills into practice while I trained as a teacher. I participated in other short-term Erasmus projects in countries like Turkey, Lithuania or Italy.

Recently, I graduated with an MA, from a from the International University of Valencia, while at the same time I worked as a private tutor. I have worked in other jobs such as being a bar manager for two years, extracurricular teacher in a public school and administrative assistant. I have the opportunity to show all my skills and I am energised so that the pupils at The O'Brien International School enjoy their learning process and emerge as well rounded citizens of the future."

Judith currently teaches Key Stages 1, 2 and 3 Spanish and Maths.

Dear parents,
I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year 2025.
I am reaching out to those parents who have not yet confirmed their places for next year. It is most important that you contact Victoria to make sure that your place is reserved.
I have started a waiting list for further new registrations in certain class groups. These places will only become available depending on other students who may be finishing this year. We have very limited places in our Secondary department (4) and College (5). If you are one of the parents who have indicated that they would like to start in September but are waiting to visit during the mid-term or Easter holidays, I suggest you contact the office and arrange a video conference as soon as possible.
Please let us know your plans and make sure you are on the list for 2025 by registering and booking your place. We will offer places on a first come first served basis any other applications will have to go on the waiting list.
It is a great complaint to have such high demand, and I take it as a sign of the confidence that parents have in our teaching staff, their professionalism and dedication to our students. Again, I ask you to please contact Victoria to make sure you are on the list for 2025.

Good afternoon parents, as you may have noticed we have several new students who joined our school in the last couple of weeks. We literally have only 4 student places remaining, 1 in primary and the remaining 3 in secondary. Due to the ongoing and exceptionally high demand, we have begun to register students for 2025-26 and we are also generating a waiting list for certain class groups. We have had several pre-registration fees paid in advance from new families for the next year, and we continue to have requests for places for 2025-26.
I would like to thank the team of teachers and all those concerned with running the school for their efforts in promoting The O’Brien International School. It is your qualities as professionals that I believe has helped our school achieve the status we possess. The O’Brien International School was established to provide a friendly, and safe environment within which students can enjoy their educational experience and receive first class tuition. Our teaching staff offer a more personal instruction, and, in this way, students can obtain the best results. Thank you one and all, for your loyalty and dedication to the school and to the students.

Meet the team 👨‍🏫

Stefano Perossa (From April 2024 to date).

MA degree in History, MA degree in Foreign Languages and Literature.

Hello! As my name suggests, I am Italian, but I have lived and studied for many years of my life in London where I completed the MA in Medieval and Renaissance studies in the history and Italian departments at UCL (University College London). This is actually my second degree, as I received my first degree in foreign languages and literatures from the University of Trieste (Italy).

I have been working at The O’Brien International School since April 2024. My main subject areas include: Key Stage 1-2-3 History, Geography, Religious Studies, Drama and PSHE Education. External GCSE Examiner in Italian.

My mission as a teacher is to inspire children to understand the importance and joy of learning. I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge but about igniting curiosity and fostering a lifelong love of discovery.

Linzi Grace Ray 2024.Great news about one of our ex-students: Linzi is now a First-Class Honours degree graduate. This remarkable achievement comes after the hard work she put in during her time at what was then the Language Centre at the old premises. She is a prime example of a student who barely missed school, met deadlines and, even when stranded in the UK, joined in lessons via the internet.
Dale Horsfall Film and TV production. I’d always loved creating and making things for my family to watch and read to make them smile and laugh. When it came time to think about what I wanted to do with my life I couldn’t think of a better path. I found a university course that best suited me, giving me access to industry standard equipment and software and more importantly people that have been doing it for a very long time. My teachers at The O'Brien International School and College helped me so much towards achieving the grades I needed to get in to university and then I worked hard, through one of the toughest times in our recent history and still managed to get a 2:1. Adelina Novoa Ba Honours Social Science. Hi John, I just graduated 2024 from my Social Science course. My grades were 70per cent + whilst working 2 jobs and volunteering at a cancer support center every week.
Laura Lydon, Education Studies BA (Hons). Hi John! Thanks for reaching out, I hope you’re well! Sorry for the late reply, life is hectic at the mo! After getting my A levels at your academy I took a gap year before Uni and went travelling around South East Asia and Australia, then I came back to the UK for uni. I graduated with a 2:1 in education studies and I now work in a primary school in the pastoral and inclusion team. I absolutely love it! I met my partner at uni and we had our little girl (who is 5 now!) and settled in Lancaster. I’m on the board of governors at her school and my grandad said when I became a governor it’s because you taught me how to argue my point all those years ago! Doesn’t that make me feel old! I hope you, Suzi and Victoria are well! All the best x

The GCSE national figure for levels 4 to 9 is 67.6%. Ours is 88%.

After last week's superb A Level results, our GCSE students achieved equally impressive results: 88% at level 4 to 9. Yes, 9! And 62% at levels 6 to 9. Again, this is testament to the hard work put in by both students and staff, support at home and, it needs to be stressed, nearly full attendance for those who achieved the higher grades.

What now? Well, students will add this year's successes to last year's and consider A Levels. The bar is set high, the school's physical environment is improving beyond measure and our curriculum is expanding to meet the needs of today's students.

Again, congratulations to all.

Results are out, fantastic, fantastic, fantastic.
87%, eighty-seven percent, ochenta y siete por ciento: whichever way you write it, this is a superb A and AS Level pass rate. This is testament to the hard work of our students and staff, the support given at home and the impressive attendance of so many of our students. This latter fact reflects the long-held knowledge that attendance has an extremely important influence on outcomes.
It is also worth remembering that we have an inclusive policy and that we take all levels, nationalities and abilities, making the results even more impressive.

So, it is celebration time for the majority, and for those about to return, they will be impressed with the additions and improvements being made to the already-superb classrooms.

Well done to all!
On a personal level I would like to offer our teachers and students a heartfelt congratulations on the excellent results achieved in the A Level exams. Congratulations pupils on your fantastic achievement! Your hard work and dedication have truly paid off. We are delighted with the pass rate of 87% overall. Of the 31 exams taken 60% achieved a grade C to A*, fantastic!
The hard work of our students and teachers, their dedication, and unwavering passion have finally been recognized, and it brings me immense joy to congratulate you on these well-deserved grades. May this be just the beginning of a journey filled with more success and accomplishments!

📸Exposición del I Concurso de eslóganes por la Igualdad 🚺🟰🚹

👉San Miguel de Salinas se suma a la lucha por la igualdad de género con su primer Concurso de Eslóganes por la Igualdad. Una iniciativa conjunta de diversos colectivos e instituciones locales, que abarca desde la comunidad educativa hasta el sector comercial, con el objetivo de promover el uso del lenguaje inclusivo y superar los estereotipos masculinos y femeninos.

🖼️Los participantes tenían que crear una fotografía horizontal acompañada de un lema que promoviera la igualdad de género.

👉El jurado seleccionó los eslóganes y las mejores creaciones destacando la creatividad para el eslogan como la belleza artística de la composición, los cuales serán expuestos en el Hall del Ayuntamiento.

🗳️La votación será mixta. El público asistente podrá dar su valoración y votar por el eslogan que prefieran.

🎖️Premio👉 tres vales de 50 euros para gastar en comercios locales.

Meet the team 👨‍🏫

Declan Wynne BEng (Hons), PGCE, MA.

I am a career changer, originally a mechanical engineer, who made the transition into teaching in 2014. I worked in Ireland as an engineer for over 30 years across a variety of manufacturing industries such as agricultural, pharmaceutical, medical device, and semi-conductor. After moving to the UK in 2010, I wanted to do something different, and having always wanted to teach, I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status with Edge Hill University in Liverpool.

I believe passionately in lifelong learning and with this in mind, I further enhanced my qualifications by completing a Masters degree in the teaching and learning of primary mathematics. Previously, I have taught mathematics at secondary level and all subjects at Primary level in Key Stage 1 and 2. I have also held the positions of Subject Leader in Mathematics, PE and Computing and have been an external examiner for KS2 mathematics with Pearsons and Capita on behalf of the DfE. In addition, I have privately tutored mathematics at GCSE and A Level.

I am delighted to be part of the team here at The O’Brien International School, whose mission and values of creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where every student is valued, align perfectly with my own personal and professional goals.
