The first Tolkien on the Camino pilgrimage with author Joseph Pearce is one for the books! Our merry fellowship of 21 pilgrims walked into the Plaza del Obradoiro last Thursday afternoon, twelve days after setting off from St. Jean Pied-de-Port in France. It was the most memorable and inspiring pilgrimage to Santiago I have ever made, second only to my very first one 35 years ago, thanks to the magnificent conferences presented by Professor Pearce as we travelled the pilgrim’s route to the tomb of St. James in Santiago. What a blessing from God the journey was, from start to finish! More photos to come!

On the Way again! Our merry Fellowship of pilgrims and Tolkien enthusiasts set off yesterday from St. Jean Pied-de-Port, France on our Camino to the tomb of St. James by way of Middle-Earth! For the next 13 days we will walk, pray, and study together with Professor Joseph Pearce as he guides us through J.R.R. Tolkien’s philosophy of the meaning of myth and fairy tales and the philosophy and faith at the heart of Tolkien's masterpieces, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

And on our September pilgrimage with Professor Joseph Pearce, our pilgrims will visit the Cathedral of the Holy Saviour in Oviedo to venerate the Holy Sudarium of Oviedo! Tradition holds it to be the cloth that covered the face of the Lord following His crucifixion. Studies have indicated that the blood type of the stains on the two cloths match those found on the Shroud of Turin.

Today is the traditional day of veneration of the Holy Shroud of Turin. It is popularly believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus. It bears a whole-body negative image of a man (front and back). The Catholic Church neither formally endorses nor rejects the shroud. Pope Francis referred to it as an "icon of a man scourged and crucified". Some scientists say that it took 34 trillion watts of ultraviolet radiation to color the shroud.

>La catedral abre todos los días, de 7h a 21h. El acceso se realiza por la Puerta de Platerías. Misa del Peregrino, diariamente a las 7:30h, 9:30h, 12h y 19:30h.
>El Museo abre de 10h a 20h. El acceso se realiza a través de las entradas de la praza do Obradoiro. Visitas a la colección permanente, Pórtico de la Gloria, Pazo de Xelmírez, cubiertas y Torre de la Carraca, visitas nocturnas.
