Painting with light:
The other night whilst camping out at a beautiful location, we decided to have some fun with the camera and teach our daughter and her friend how to paint with light or more importantly how to use their imagination. This had not been on the cards but with a couple of camping lights we asked our daughter and her friend to make drawings. After a couple of experiments to get the right settings we let their minds run riot. Now that they have started they want to create more intricate and complex images. We’ll leave that for another night. Soon all of the adults became involved and much fun was had. We also observed and enjoyed the Milky Way before going to sleep under the very old moss covered oaks.

They were especially thrilled to see the Milky Way but sadly due to the high winds we missed out on the deer rut which would have been the icing on the cake. Instead we woke to the spectacle of hundreds of vultures circling overhead. We discovered the carcass of a red deer that was attracting them. By the time we left, no vultures and no deer but an incredible sense of wellbeing from being out in the wild with good friends and family.

Any opportunity to photograph is great and when something different pops up, especially with friends, it can be really great. Sat on the back tray of the Range Rover support vehicle photographing the guys of Legendary Motorcycle Adventures. What more can you ask for! A challenge, light, dust, falling off the back of the car (didn’t happen but a possibility) followed by a drink around the campfire with new and old friends. Light, Laughter and bonhomie. Food is my passion, my father had one of the finest Italian restaurants in London for many years. I research and search out the hidden gems, the places that best represent the food of the area or simply those that cannot be missed. I would love you to experience that most Spanish of traits, their love of food.

Prepared by Moors, Jews and Christians alike, the centuries-old tradition of roasting lamb is an exemplary indication of the remarkable diversity of Spain, still highly present in architecture, customs and food all over the country today.

On the plains near Segovia these passionate people rear their suckling lamb, the ewes eating the herbs and grasses. They then serve the lamb in their restaurants. In the best restaurant I know, in a little off the beaten track village, the owner and his family serve only salad, bread and this lamb cooked in their wood fired oven, nothing else needed.

Each year our village of Gaucin celebrates an Art Fair setup by our collective of Artists. Art Gaucin 2017 was a great success with many national and international visitors taking time to visit the studios of around 20 artists. Represented were painters, sculptors, ceramicists and of course us photographers. It is a great opportunity for us as a collective to give back to the local community and we get to share our passions.

Welcoming people into our Studio to educate about and discuss the art of photography is a great privilege. The highlight has to be when we give a talk about photography to the local school children!

Just completed the Spring Flowers Tour, perfect conditions and a wonderful abundance of wild flowers. Colours, scents and tranquility.
