Buuttaa Qalaa of Karayu.
Oromo as a nation is known for having its own advanced ancient endogenous civilization. Karrayyu is one of the indigenous communities under oromo people. The Karrayyu community of Oromo people, according to the hierarchy of root chain of oromo (hiidda laattinsaa), Karrayicha was the first Son of Barento Oromo, or it was Grand Son of Oromticha.
Following the historical Madda Walaabu convention, Karayicha (Karayu Oromo) travelled and expanded to the south eastern direction, crossing Hawas River together with his families, Sons, daughters, grand sons, his Son's families & his companions. During its expansion Karrayyicha settled at the centeral part of the country around Great Rift Valley making Fantalle land its center.
Since then till now, karrayyu people have been governed by system.
The Karrayu community is well know for holding and preserving the ancient oromo civilization for over a millinia. Karrayyu havebeen governed & administered by Gada System for thousand of years till the present day.
Karrayu community is also known for having rich typical original useful cultures, for having well organized community structure, for its strong social unity, for being full of heroes and strong warriors, for having great adherence for its social, cultural & historical values.
Currently, the karayyu gada system is celebrating Buta Qala, at the end of the years of gada ruling period, the ruling gada party of this community, Gada Michile is undertaking Buta Qala (a ceremony of transfering half of its ruling power to its successor party, Gadaa Halchisa of Karayu community' gada) at a selected place called Tarre Lugo.
During the current year's Buta Qala was taking place for the last 15 days, with various events at Tarree Lugoo. Michile's Gada Households (Warra Gadaa Michiillee) have moved to Tarree Lugoo and constructed 37 galmas and stayed there, at the eleventh night of their settlement the participants of Buutta Qalaa will join them with Gumaataa(gifts). At the middle of the last day(December 18-2024) the 37 households of gadaa Michille, leaded by the six years old Hayyiicha, who is the ultimate Abba Boku household's representative, Abba Boku Hawaas Kedir Hawaas Boru(the Son of the martyr Abba Boku Kedir Hawaas) on behalf of his family have transferred half of Michille's Gadaa Power for the Gadaa Halchisa's ultimate Halchisa gadaa household representative.
Therefore Michille shared exactly half of its power to Gada Halchisa(Dulo) in a fair, peaceful & cultural way.
The Current Buta Qala ceremony of Karrayyu is celebrated for the round in every , this implies that Karayu havebeen celebreting Buta Qala for the last till now with no gap.
This buta qala ceremony will be undertaken at the years of the current gada Michile ruling period, which is 2 years earlier before the compeletion of its gada power. For the coming two years (the 7th & 8th years of gada power) Gada Michile and Gada Halchisa both having half(50%) of ruling power, they will govern the community together for the coming two years.
Gada Michile after ruling together with gada Halchisa for two years, during the 8th gada year, Michile Gada will transfer all its power fully for Gada Halchisa. Thereafter, Gada Halchisa will start ruling the community alone independently for six years.
In the same way during the 6th ruling year, Gada Halchisa also will have Butta Qala ceremony (it shares half of its power for its next successor class in karrayu's gada).
Similarly, Gada Halchisa continues ruling together with its next successor party, both using thier half power for additional two years period. Then at the 8th years of its ruling period, Gada Halchisa will transfer all its ruling power for its successor. Then, the successor will continue the same Gada cycle.
Karrayu people's Buta Qala ceremony sharing half of ruling power to the next ruling party, during two years earlier than its power expiry period is an essential, critical, wonderful and interesting cultural wisdom.
Buta Qala can be a good model even for the developed countries present day's ruling power transitions among political parties.
Some of the major importance of Buta Qala includes it practically trains new upcoming leaders, strengthing leadership skills, sharing practical experience of governance & administration, enhance consistency system of governance for the nation, makes new leaders capable for administration, development of peaceful and stable power transition culture and it have many other national importance.
This political administration power transfering habit is the most peaceful & the most fair power transition culture in the world.
Speacially, shareing half administrative power two years early could be very important solution for the most of current world political crisis.
This is wonderful indigenous civilization of the Oromo people.
