The Sidama Region is mostly accessed from Addis Ababa both on flight and surface drive. As the regional capital Hawassa found 275 km from the capital Addis Ababa, most tourists make their trip to the region with a surface drive. The upcoming express way road from Mojo (South of Addis Ababa) to Hawassa will precipitate a more flow of domestic and international visitors to the Sidama region. For people who need to use a flight they can use two airports as a gate way to the region. One is Hawassa and the other is Arbaminch. The flight to Arbaminch will help visitors to access the southern part of the region and Loka Abayya National park easily. But the main gateway of flight to the region is Hawassa. The Ethiopian airlines have a daily scheduled flight to Hawassa and Arbaminch (Visit Sidama).

ኢትዮጵያ በተባበሩት መንግሥታት ድርጅት፤ ለማይዳሰሱ የባህል ቅርሶች ጥበቃ ለሚያደርገው የዩኔስኮ የበይነ መንግሥታት ኮሚቴ አባልነት ተመረጠች። በፓሪስ የኢትዮጵያ ኤምባሲ አምባሳደር ሄኖክ ተፈራ ሻውል በትዊተር ገጻቸው በተጠቀሰው ኮሚቴ ውስጥ ኢትዮጵያ አፍሪቃን ወክለው ከገቡት ሃገራት አንዷ መሆኗ የማይዳሰሱ ቅርሶች ይበልጥ ሚዛናዊ እና በእውነተኛ ውክልናቸው የዓለማችንን ውበት እና ብዝሃነት የሚያሳዩ እንዲሆኑ ትሠራለች ብለዋል። ከኢትዮጵያ ሌላ ሕንድም በዚህ ኮሚቴ ውስጥ እንድትገባ 110 የድጋፍ ድምጽ ማግኘቷ አግኝታለች። ዘገባዎች እንደሚያሳዩት ከሕንድ ጋር ለዚሁ ወንበር በተፎካካሪነት ባንግላዴሽ፣ ቪየትናም፣ ካምቦዲያ፤ ማሌዢያ እና ታይላንድ የቀረቡ ቢሆንም ኒው ዴሊህ ባገኘችው ከፍተኛ የድጋፍ ድምጽ አልፋለች። ሕንድ ከዚህም ሌላ ከጎርጎሪዮሳዊው 2021 እስከ 2025 ድረስ የዩኔስኮ የዓለም የቅርስ ኮሚቴም አባል ናት።

"Declarations to Recover Lion"
'አንበሶችን ከጥፋት ለመታደግ የወጣ ይፋዊ መግለጫ' በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ የተቋቋመውን እንቅስቃሴ አረንጓዴ ሐሳቦች በመቀላቀል በ Lion Recovery Fund ድረ-ገጽ ላይ በ2019 በአማርኛ ቋንቋ ማጋራት አስችሏል።

Fichee-Chambalalla is a New Year festival celebrated among the Sidama people, who now have their own regional state.
According to the oral tradition, Fichee commemorates a Sidama woman who visited her parents and relatives once a year after her marriage, bringing a meal prepared from false banana, milk and butter, which was shared with neighbors. Fichee has since become a unifying symbol of the Sidama people.
Each year, astrologers determine the correct date for the festival, which is then announced to the clans. In 2021 the Chambalala festival will be celebrated from around 21-23 June. Communal events take place throughout the festival, including traditional songs and dances. All the Sidama participate, irrespective of age, gender and social status.
On the first day, children go from house to house to greet their neighbors. During the festival, clan leaders advise the Sidama people to work hard, respect and support the elders, and abstain from cutting down indigenous trees, begging, indolence, false testimony and theft.
The festival therefore enhances equity, good governance, social cohesion, peaceful co-existence and integration among Sidama clans and the diverse ethnic groups in Ethiopia. Parents transmit the tradition to their children orally and through participation in events during the celebration. Women in particular, transfer knowledge and skills associated with hairdressing and preparation of meals to their daughters and other girls in their respective villages.
Fichee – Chambalaalla was registered at UNESCO as an intangible world heritage in November 2015.
There are sequences of events that are performed throughout the Feeche Sidama’s New Year celebration. The most vibrant once are performed on the day of Feche (the New Year) and the day after the holiday – Chamballa festivity.
